With Bali leading the world’s beach club scene and constantly refining the concept of luxury by the sea, we think it’s a brave business that tries to single-handedly redefine what it is to be a beach club at all.
But, there is such a business, Bintang Beach Club Dive & Watersport in Tanjung Beno, which is just around the corner from Nusa Dua on Bali’s Bukit Peninsula.
Our team isn’t entirely the most sporty of groups, but nonetheless, they rose to the occasion when called upon and went out to visit the Bintang Beach Club Dive & Watersport, and this is what they learned while they were there.
Introduction – Getting To Bintang Beach Club Dive & Watersport

Tanjung Benoa is not far from most of Bali as the crow flies, but sadly, you can’t catch a lift on a passing crow to get to this beach club, and that means a car.
The positioning of the Nusa Dua area on the Bukit Peninsula makes for a fairly lengthy drive from everywhere except for Ungasan and Uluwatu, and we’d recommend that you either set off very early in the morning or stay overnight to get a full day out of a trip to this neck of the woods.
This is doubly true when you consider that Bali traffic can often add a lot of additional time to any journey on the island.
And as this place is most definitely not your typical beach club, you will need to park your car at a short distance away in one of the beach car parks and walk to the venue.
But if you arrive in a ride-share such as Grab or Gojek, you can be dropped off at the door, which is probably going to be easier.

What’s Inside Bintang Beach Club Dive & Watersport?
Nothing except for a reception desk. We did say this wasn’t your typical beach club, and, in fact, we have no idea why they have billed this place as a beach club.
It’s a dive and watersport centre, and all the activities take place in the ocean; there’s no cafe, no bar, no restaurant, and most definitely no daybeds. Overall, this really isn’t a place to put on your list if you want a beach club day out.
However, it does offer watersports, and in the interests of fairness and our quest to review every “beach club” on the island, no matter how far it falls from the classical beach club concept, we will be taking a closer look at that.
Our Review Breakdown For Bintang Beach Club Dive & Watersport

We review all beach clubs on this site without fear or favour using the same criteria (you can find each of them laid out below, in fact).
However, in some rare cases, those criteria are not entirely designed to suit the kind of establishment in question. We continue to use them anyway in order to be fair to all the other beach clubs.
But, we acknowledge freely that the scores in this piece are unlikely to flatter this “beach club” simply because it’s a long way away from what we’d normally review.
Our process is pretty simple, though:
- The review team visits the beach club (not always together or even on the same day)
- Each member of the team completes an evaluation, including a score from 1 (worst) to 5 (best) against the 20 criteria below
- Once every team member has completed their evaluation, the team meets to discuss the beach club
- They take a vote on the final score in each category
- Then, one person writes up the review reflecting the final scores and the general discussions based on the evaluations
- This review remains live for a minimum of one year on our website before we seek to update it
Pre-Club Advertising
While we normally encourage beach clubs to do lots of pre-club advertising to ensure that your day is a social event worth spending your time on, this beach club isn’t a social event kind of place.
Each outing/trip only goes ahead if there are enough people to make it financially viable. Some of the watersports (like jetskiing or the fly board) only require a single participant to be worth the effort, others like the glass bottom boat require rather more folks.
We haven’t seen any adverts for this “beach club”, mind you, but we’re not sure that we would have done given that none of us are really watersports-minded in our daily lives.
Location
Tanjung Benoa is not the ideal location to get to. It’s not the most extreme part of Bali, mind you, but its position on the Bukit Peninsula means that it is a reasonably long drive to get there, particularly when you take into account the traffic on the island.
We would also note that it’s on the wrong side of Bali for a great sunset view, and the sun won’t be dipping below the horizon of the Indian Ocean in a breathtaking show of light.
However, the beach in this area is very nice and the water is considered to be among the best in Bali for many different watersports, which is why you would visit the Bintang Beach Club.
Booking Process & Seating Options
You can book via WhatsApp or Email, or by calling into the “beach club” and talking to the sales staff at the reception.
But really, it’s 2025, why not have an online booking system where people can swiftly book the activity that they want to do at the Bintang Beach Club?
Oh, that’s right, it’s because it allows for a cunning game whereby the sales staff try to maximise the amount of money they can extract from the customer for each activity.
If you do decide to book something at this “beach club”, we recommend that you shop around and understand the market price for a given activity.
Entry Fee

There is no entrance fee for this beach club, which ought to be a good thing, but given that the office is simply there to sell you tours and you’re going to have to book a watersports tour to get any fun out of this place, we’d say that every activity comes with an entrance fee.
These fees are likely to be higher than the costs of getting into a beach club elsewhere on the island, but they will include equipment rental, instruction, etc.
However, as we don’t feel that people should charge entrance fees for beach clubs in Bali, even though in this case, it’s reasonable to do so, we have to score this at zero.
Minimum Spend
There is no minimum spend per se, but every activity comes with a minimum cost, and that’s a minimum spend in our book.
We generally like minimum spend, but given the lack of a booking engine here, you have to deal with the salespeople to actually secure your activity – we can’t rate this particularly highly either.
Welcome And Security

We were impressed with the greetings at both the beach club offices and on the activities themselves, but there are no security screening protocols in place at all.
Now, given that nearly everything takes place at sea, they probably don’t feel a bag check is a major priority, but we hold every beach club to the same standards, even when it doesn’t entirely make sense, because that’s the only way to be fair to every beach club.
Inclusions
As beach clubs go, the inclusions are non-existent – no daybed, no towel, no welcome drink, nothing.
As watersports centres go, they’re pretty good, you get the equipment, the instructors, etc. as part of the fee. But we judge beach clubs, not watersports centres.
Service
The lack of transparency in pricing irks us, and it carries through into the interactions you have with the staff at this “beach club”.
While they are friendly and warm as all Balinese tend to be, there’s a definite air of trying to earn the highest commissions and that always sours a relationship a little.
Entertainment
We can’t decide whether they get the lowest rating for this category or the highest rating, so in the interests of sanity, we gave them a mid-rank.
There is no live music, no DJ, no dancers, no cultural shows, but assuming you participate in the watersports activities, they are pretty entertaining.
Pool Quality
There is no pool, and that means they get the lowest rating for the pool quality. In fairness, you might count the Indian Ocean as their pool, in which case, it’s one they share with almost every beach club in Bali. But we don’t count it.
Menu/Drinks Pricing

There is no food and there is no drink at this “beach club”. So, while you won’t spend a lot of money on food here, you also won’t be eating very much.
This is the biggest sticking point for us when it comes to using the term “beach club”, there really should, at least, be an onsite cafe before you’re allowed to use the phrase in your marketing.
Food And Drink Quality

The trouble with not selling food and drinks is that you can’t give them any kind of points for quality. It’s the best nothing whatsoever that we’ve had on the island and, at least, as good as any nothing whatsoever as we’ve had elsewhere.
But that’s not saying much, is it?
Sunset View
This is Tanjung Benoa, and sadly, nobody goes to Tanjung Benoa for an amazing sunset view because it doesn’t have one.
The sun sets on the opposite side of the island, and that means your view is in the wrong place to enjoy the light show above the ocean.
You will still get some colours in the sky, but it’s not THE Bali sunset that people crave when they’re on holiday here.
Music And Ambience

There is no music of any kind at this beach club, and if there is some whale song under the water, we couldn’t hear it.
Reasonably speaking, you can’t really expect music while you’re parasailing or kiteboarding, but it’s a standard beach club review criterion, so we have to give this place the lowest rating on that basis.
Payment Options

You can pay by cash or by card at this “beach club”, and that’s pretty much all you need.
However, they could also offer QRIS payment services for locals and expats, but we saw no indication that they do.
Exit Process
You will be returned to the beach at the end of every activity. There’s nothing much more to leaving this “beach club” than that.
You don’t need to go back to reception, and your instructor will say “farewell” before you go and try to find some transport home.
Transportation
If you have your own transport, you can pick it up from wherever you left it and head home.
If you don’t, then you may need to wait a little longer for a Grab or Gojek, particularly if you are travelling at a busy time of day, as this part of the island has fewer drivers than the busiest Southern beach towns.
You won’t need to wait forever for a ride, but if you’re on the beach in the heat, it may be more than you’re comfortable with.
Social Media Presence
There is no real social media presence for this place, though they do appear in a few YouTube videos and other people’s Instagram feeds.
In fairness, we don’t see how it would be practical to build a large social media presence of people doing watersports; you’d need to send out an additional person to take photos or make videos, given that the instructor will be focusing on teaching and safety.
Other/General Comments
It’s not a beach club, and really, we can’t think of one single good reason for this business to claim that it is a beach club.
It’s a watersports centre, and it would be much better if their name made that clear rather than trying to lure people out to Tanjung Benoa for a day that is nothing like a day at a beach club.
We even enjoyed our time at this place, but we would never recommend it to someone seeking a beach club experience.
Our Overall Opinion Of Bintang Beach Club Dive & Watersport
Yes, this beach club is the worst-scoring beach club of any property that we’ve reviewed since we started this site.
That should come as absolutely no surprise to anyone, as it’s simply not a beach club. It’s a watersports booking service.
If you want to enjoy a day of snorkelling, sea walking, or banana boat riding, it’s a decent option in Tanjung Benoa. If you want dinner, drinks and a daybed? It’s not got any of those things, go somewhere else.
FAQs
Can You Swim At Bintang Beach Club Dive & Watersport?
Sort of. You can, if you bring a towel, go swimming in the sea at Tanjung Benoa, and if you join nearly any of this beach club’s activities, you’re going to end up on the ocean or in it.
However, there’s no swimming pool, and there’s definitely no real focus on swimming as an activity, though snorkelling and diving are both well-represented here among the options of watersports.
It’s fair to say that this “beach club” has very little in common with most other beach clubs in Bali.
What Can You Do At Bintang Beach Club Dive & Watersport?
Watersports! You can charter a boat, ride in a banana boat, go jet skiing or water skiing, parasailing, rolling donut riding, sea walking, snorkelling, diving, join glass bottom boat trips and more.
There is also a trip to Turtle Island from here, but we strongly recommend against joining that. Turtle Island is known for its poor treatment of turtles, ironically, and there are many better turtle sanctuaries in Bali than this one.
Is Bintang Beach Club Dive & Watersport A Family-Friendly Venue?
Yes, Bintang Beach Club Dive & Watersport is family-friendly in that they accept bookings from all appropriate age groups for each activity.
However, we would strongly recommend that a parent or other appropriate adult accompany any child and that you do not rely on their instructors to take charge of your child’s safety.
While our experience of this beach club’s services was positive overall, we cannot stress enough that they have mixed feedback online and that all it takes is one slip from an instructor to put somebody in danger.
Who Owns Bintang Beach Club Dive & Watersport?
The ownership of this beach club is not in the public domain, and we believe that it’s under local ownership, but we cannot say for certain.
Final Thoughts On Bintang Beach Club Dive & Watersport
If you want a beach club day out, then Bintang Beach Club should be at the bottom of your list in Bali. There is nothing about this place that is “beach club” like, and you’d be very disappointed if you made the trip thinking there was.
However, Tanjung Benoa is the heart of Bali’s watersports scene, and there’s no doubt that this “beach club” can arrange nearly every activity available in Tanjung Benoa, though there seems to be some dispute over whether all their pricing is good value for money.
We would advise shopping around and seeing if you can get the best deal for your money. We had a good time with Bintang Beach Club’s services, but there are plenty of equally good competitors in Tanjung Benoa.
