The Blue Door Bar
This is about as close as Ubud gets to a nightclub. It’s one of the most versatile Ubud nightlife spots around, in fact.
In the day, it has a very chilled-out vibe, and they have a cool beer garden (complete with TVs and coverage of most major live events).
Then, at night, it becomes something very different. It goes all speakeasy-cool and has fabulous cocktails that you can sip while listening to DJs lay down the beats.
Just head through the blue doors of Blue Door Bar to enjoy one of the best nights out in central Bali.

Bacari
Bacari is Ubud’s premier wine and tapas bar. They have a really good wine list with a variety of grapes from both the old and new worlds.
What we really love about this is that nearly half of their wines are available by the glass, so you can try nearly everything before you decide on a bottle for the evening.
We also think their food menu is pretty good, and we’d be happy to stop here in the early evening before going out for a bit of a party.

Hujan Locale
Hujan Locale is all about elevating Balinese cuisine to the next level and then pairing it with locally-inspired cocktails to deliver a true taste sensation.
If you want a classy evening out with a date or a select group of friends and don’t mind if it doesn’t lead to a night of frenzied thrashing on a dance floor, Hujan Locale is a refined choice.
One really nice touch here is that the cocktails are served from a moving cart, so nobody needs to go to the bar, ever.

Nautilus is a cut above, and they like you to feel it when their mixologists offer you a broad and detailed cocktail menu to work through.
We like the laid-back vibe in here during the daytime and it’s a nice place for a warm-up session, but if you fancy something sophisticated? It’s evenings all the way.
You should also check out the wine list, which is neatly curated and delivers an excellent accompaniment to the food on offer here.

Ibu Susu Bar & Kitchen
The Old Fashioned at Ibu Susu is legendary because this restaurant has been bold enough to take this classic cocktail recipe and make it entirely its own.
In fact, while the Old Fashioned might be the most famous drink at this bar, there’s no doubt that the entire cocktail list is worth investigating (possibly at least twice).
And if you want some food to go with it, then grab a steamed bun full of tasty pork belly, and you’ll be in seventh heaven. We really like Ibu Susu, it’s the sort of place you keep going back to.

Boliche Bar @ Cantina Rooftop
Boliche Bar is one of the longest-established bars in Ubud, though it has changed names and owners a few times over the years.
It’s got a great music policy with an emphasis on mixing things up, so one night might be soul night and the next might be a deep cuts of the 1960s kind of thing.
One thing you should know about Boliche is that it operates as a speakeasy, and that means, unlike at some of the other Ubud nightlife spots, you need to reserve in advance and get the password to enter the bar.

Belle Wine Bar
Belle is all about the glory of the grape, and you don’t come here if all you want is a margarita; you come to pore over the huge wine list.
The good news is that with so many wines available by the glass, you can work your way around the flavours of the globe without ever leaving your comfy seat in Ubud.
We like to get a Bali grazing board, for which Belle is famous, and just gently snack along as we drink. The atmosphere in Belle is very friendly, and everybody always seems to be having a lovely time on their night out in Ubud here.

Kyoka Japanese Kitchen
If you like flavours that don’t mess about and declare themselves with a hint of aggression on your palate, then you’re going to love drinking cocktails in this Ubud nightlife spot.
They craft cocktails with bold ingredients that make a real impression when you drink them. They say that by creating drinks this memorable, they can stand out from other cocktail bars in Ubud.

Lokal Bar Ubud
Lokal Bar Ubud is one of those places that you can take absolutely anyone and be entirely certain that they will have a good time there.
They have a chill garden space that really gets you away from the buzz of the town and lets you enjoy the solid, honest food and drinks that they serve.
The menu has cocktails, mocktails, beers, and so much more that you won’t get bored. Heck, we loved their milkshakes and may accidentally have added alcohol to them.
They also have great live bands playing here most evenings, which is awesome.

Laughing Buddha Bar
If you want live music and a high-energy crowd, then the Laughing Buddha Bar is a great place to be. Just make sure to go later in the evening, it doesn’t really warm up until 90-10-ish.
The bands hit the stage around 8 and go until about 11.30, and they are very much into audience participation and will not just encourage it, but actively push it at times.
Just be warned, it gets quite snug in here by the end of the night as more and more people arrive to enjoy the good times in Laughing Buddha Bar.

CP Lounge Ubud
CP Lounge was one of the first bars in Ubud, and there’s no doubt that it’s super popular with folk. Pool tables here are always busy, and that means it’s always got a crowd.
There’s no real plan at CP Lounge, no music policy, or joined-up thinking about anything; it’s just about fun and going with the flow.
You may find anything from live reggae acts to DJs laying down the tracks in the late evenings here. CP lounge is a place that attracts the experimental and the lost in equal measures for great times.

Spice by Blake
Spice by Blake is an upmarket spot on Monkey Forest Road where they serve elevated street food with Indonesian themes and amazing cocktails.
If you love a fusion of colour, creativity and conscience, then you’re absolutely going to love this place.
Every dish and every drink is perfectly Instagrammable and the crowd is good-natured and fun to be around all night long. There’s no doubt that Spice by Blake is shaping up to be one of our favourite places in Ubud.

No Mas Bar
If what you want is a party vibe and the rah, rah that goes with that, then No Mas is waiting just off the Monkey Forest Road for you.
They have a Latin take on urban feels, and you’ll enjoy the dance floor, which is always crowded with people who are having a really good night. Think Indie beats though, not polished global hits.
You will find locals, expats, and travellers alike rubbing shoulders in No Mas, and the cocktails never stop flowing until everyone spills out onto the street until the next time at the end of the night. Just don’t expect quiet. This isn’t the place for that.

LOL Bar
Many of the bars in Ubud offer unique cocktails using exotic ingredients and refined techniques to impress their customers, and maybe they throw in some gourmet pizzas to really set things off.
LOL Bar is not one of those places. Its electric atmosphere comes from the fact that it has zero pretensions to greatness whatsoever.
They offer live reggae acts until the early hours, cold beers and a generous happy hour, long opening hours and some pool tables, and that’s your lot. Just know that this place gets super crowded as the night draws on.

The Melting Pot Saloon
The Melting Pot is all about bringing people together, and you’ll find that it’s all about pub sports, games and that old school Western-saloon experience.
The drinks are reasonably priced, which is always a good start, and while you may not have views over the rice paddies, they do have live sports on the TVs, and some tasty bar snacks on offer.
Best of all, they have pool, darts, snooker and axe throwing. Yes, axe throwing. There’s nothing else that Ubud offers with more drama than a bunch of drunk tourists throwing axes, honest.

Night Rooster
If you’re in the mood for some seriously elevated cocktails, then a must-visit is Night Rooster. The big brains behind the famous restaurant chain Locavore run this place and as you’d expect, that means their expert mixologists are real experts.
Think home-made infused spirits, local ingredients that have been foraged from the jungle, and bartenders who see mixology as a calling, not just as a job.
Sure, it’s pricey, but if you want drinks that are more than just a means to getting a buzz on, there’s nowhere better in town than Night Rooster. We like that it’s such an accessible, welcoming space, too.

Why Not Ubud
Why Not is old-school Bali. It’s what the place used to be like before Ubud became famous through the efforts of Elizabeth Gilbert and Eat, Pray, Love.
It’s friendly and welcoming with a big heart and honest vibes. There’s no pretence at being anything other than a a place to enjoy some live bands playing good music and some awesome food, drinks and shisha.
We like heading down to Why Not on Saturday night thanks to their awesome happy hour deals and the fact that it’s easy to get a seat to watch the band before 8 p.m.
This is a slice of Bali nostalgia, and we think it’s one of the best bars in Ubud for it.

The Lair Ubud
If you want some jungle views when you’re on a night out, you can’t go wrong with The Lair.
You need to be pretty relaxed about the way you drink, though, as you draw cards to see what you’ll be getting in each round. It’s fun but can be intimidating if you don’t like trying new things.
When they arrive, though, you’ll be impressed with how pretty these cocktails are.

Lai Lai Afrobeats Bar
Yes, this is a real African-owned bar in Ubud, and it is one of the most unique watering holes on the island.
The signature smoke cocktails put most cocktail bars to shame, and there’s no doubt that the background of Afrobeats really sets the mood.
Even the mocktails are a standout experience at Lai Lai. Check out how pretty they are!

If you love your shisha, then you’re going to adore Eden Lounge, which serves the best flavoured tobacco in all of Ubud.
It has a great underground vibe, but it’s easy to miss when you’re walking down the street, so keep your eyes peeled for it.
We also think it has the nicest bathroom in all of Bali and you’ll want to visit just to check it out.

When we’re in the mood for cocktails, Whisper Cove is always near the top of our list.
They love to make next-level drinks here that are bound to impress on sight.
This is the kind of speakeasy where you take people yhou want to seriously impress for the evening.

Jati Bar @ Four Seasons Resort Bali Sayan
It’s the Four Seasons, don’t expect this to be a cheap night out, but the expert mixologists on hand here are among the best on Earth.
They barrel age their own cocktails in Asian terracotta casks, and this provides a flavour that no other bar in Ubud or Bali can replicate.
If you want an absolute taste sensation, Jati Bar’s infused spirits are going to deliver.

Mandapa is one of the world’s finest hotels, and there’s no doubt that a sundowner at Ambar is one of life’s rare treats.

With a long-running happy hour, this neighbourhood bar is a great place to start or end a night.
Their food menu is solid and we often come here for a late lunch, before getting stuck into the cocktails as the sun sets.
The live music starts not long after that and then everyone here gets into party mode.

Final Thoughts On Ubud Nightlife
It may not be quite up to Canggu and Seminyak for nightlife spots, just yet, but there’s plenty to do at night in Ubud. From delicious cocktails in the CP lounge to an intimate setting near Ubud Palace to live music venues, there’s a hidden gem in Ubud for you.
This cultural hub spot among the rice paddies has some of the best bars on the island when night falls, and you can enjoy a great night here with great music and great drinks, guaranteed.
Of course, if you really want to have the best party you can, we’d recommend jumping in a Grab and heading to Canggu to FINNS Beach Club, the world’s best beach club, and the island’s finest party destination. It’s a must-visit if you enjoy panoramic views of the ocean, DJ sets, cold Bintangs and a constant flow of tasty cocktails.
