Bali Seascape Beach Club Review: How Does Candidasa’s First Beach Club Measure Up

Candidasa Beach and Candidasa are in East Bali and the Bali Seascape Beach Club is one of the area’s only beach clubs.

We wanted to know if this place, far from the main beach club areas of Canggu and Seminyak was worth travelling to the other side of the island for.

So, our team jumped in their Grabs and onto their scooters and went to find out for themselves. This is what they learned when they arrived.

Introduction – Getting To Bali Seascape Beach Club

It’s a bit of a drive to Candidasa from most of the island and you can expect to spend 2-3 hours getting there from Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta, Legian, Nusa Dua, etc. longer if the traffic is really bad.

Bali Seascape Beach Club is part of a small beach resort and that means there’s parking available on site.

Grab and Gojek are also welcome to drop you off at the door.

Opening Hours: 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily except Nyepi (note: this is a resort and resort guests may access most facilities 24 hours a day, they also get priority if you visit the Bali Seascape Beach Club which may mean there’s no room available.

What’s Inside Bali Seascape Beach Club?

Bali Seascape Beach Club has a beachfront swimming pool, a view of the near-virgin beach outside and restaurant and bar facilities (including Sari’s Bar, Rathbone’s Bar and Restaurant and Mr. Grumpy’s International Deli, Cafe and Sports Bar). They also have an onsite tailor and dive school!

Our Review Breakdown For Bali Seascape Beach Club

We try to review every beach club in Bali in exactly the same way, this helps us deliver consistent reviews for our readers as well as to ensure that we treat every beach club fairly.

Our team of reviewers will visit the beach club (not necessarily all at the same time or even on the same day) and grad it from 1 (worst) to 5 (best) against the 20 criteria listed below.

Once they have visited, they get together and vote on the final gradings used in the reviews.

Based on these discussions, one team member compiles the review and once it’s live, it will remain in place for a minimum of 12 months before we return to the beach club and revise our opinion.

Pre-Club Advertising

We haven’t seen any advertising for Bali Seascape Beach Club prior to starting this site and we don’t really expect to.

Its primary purpose is to serve hotel guests, and though outside guests are allowed in – there’s no guarantee of a space by the outdoor pool.

We think clubs should advertise, in general, as it helps to ensure that they are busy and fun to be in.

Rating:

Location

Actual travel distances don’t mean much in Bali when the drive from a nearby city center can take far longer than the distance on the map suggests due to the roads and traffic here.

So, the Bali Seascape Beach Club is a long drive from most of the island and that may put you off visiting unless you’re staying in Candidasa already.

However, this spot on Candidasa Beach is pleasant enough and there are plenty of things to do within walking distance of this beach club.

Booking Process & Seating Options

We need to stress that this beach club is aimed at serving the guests at the resort.

So, if there’s a shortage of pool loungers, they always take priority over walk-in guests.

And there is no facility to book pool loungers or other seats online, you have to walk in to see what’s available on any given day.

Rating:

Entry Fee

The upside of most small beach clubs in Bali is that there’s no entrance fee.

We approve of this, nobody should be charged money just to walk into a beach club and have a look around.

Rating:

Minimum Spend

There is also no minimum spend at the Bali Seascape Beach Club. You’d expect that given, once again, the pool loungers are mainly to be used by resort guests.

However, it does mean that if you are going to travel just to check out this beach club, you have no guarantee of a seat when you arrive.

We like the use of a minimum spend because it helps to facilitate a reservation that we can rely on. Imagine driving for 2 hours to find that you can’t get a seat?

Rating:

Welcome And Security

The staff is very friendly and welcoming, however, the friendly staff didn’t carry out any kind of security check during our brief check in process at the front desk.

We do like it when beach clubs conduct security checks, bag searches keep the environment safe for everyone.

Rating:

Inclusions

Anyone using the outdoor pool or the pool loungers may borrow a towel at no charge, which is quite generous given the lack of entrance fee and minimum spend.

However, there are no tiers of entry either – you can’t pay a bit more and get more perks. So, don’t forget to pack your sntan lotion unless you want to spend a lot of money buying some in a nearby shop (suntan lotion is always expensive in Bali).

Rating:

Service

The service here is very much traditional Balinese hospitality and we liked it very much.

We found that the staff were always willing to go the extra mile for their customers and they reflect very positively on the Bali Seascape Beach Club as a whole.

No, they’re not quite at the same level as the best beach clubs or the 5-star hotel beach clubs but they’re exceptional for a small locally owned club.

Rating:

Entertainment

There is no entertainment to speak of at this beach club, it’s not that kind of place and it’s too small to justify any entertainment budget.

However, there is piped music in the bar and restaurant areas during the day. The restaurant also hosts live music and Balinese dancers at some points in the week.

Rating:

Pool Quality

The outdoor pool here is excellent. It’s large and beachfront with a pleasant view of the ocean and beach.

You will also be pleased to know that the resort keeps the pool clean and the surrounding area is well-maintained. Swimming here is a lot of fun.

Rating:

Menu/Drinks Pricing

We found the food and drinks to be reasonably priced for hotel food in Candidasa.

It’s not the cheapest place in the area, but it’s also not the most expensive.

Candidasa is cheaper than the main beach towns, so you will find that you’ll pay a bit less here than in Canggu or Seminyak.

Rating:

Food And Drink Quality

We thought the food was tasty enough and the desserts were delicious. However, we have to say that the portions were tiny and we had to eat two meals to feel full.

The drinks were cold enough and strong enough, but there wasn’t much thought given to their presentation.

Overall, their restaurants deliver acceptable value for money but it doesn’t stand out either.

Rating:

Sunset View

You’re on the wrong coast to watch the sunset at the Bali Seascape Beach Club, it’s the East Coast and this place probably has amazing sunrises.

However, unless you’re staying in the hotel and enjoying breakfast at the property, you will probably never see the sunrise at this location.

Rating:

Music And Ambiance

There is basic piped music as this property and while it wasn’t “awesome”, it was plain and inoffensive and didn’t interfere with our enjoyment of the beach club.

Given that the vibe here is “chilling”, we have no issue with that and we might come back and check out the live music at night in the restaurants one day.

Rating:

Payment Options

You can pay by cash or card anywhere in the Bali Seascape Beach Club Resort but we didn’t see any options for e-wallets or QRIS.

Rating:

Exit Process

This is a small resort beach club and you just walk back out the way that you came in.

The staff, who are lovely, will wish you a hearty farewell and you will leave feeling that this is a great little place thanks to the warmth of the people in it.

Rating:

Transportation

There’s no doubt that Candidasa is still a bit off the beaten path as Bali goes and while that poses no issues when travelling to the club, it can make things harder when you leave.

Grab and Gojek services here are limited and you may need to wait for a long time, particularly at peak periods, for a ride.

You may also run into the taxi mafia if you choose to wait on the main street for your ride.

Rating:

Social Media Presence

Neither the Bali Seascape Beach Club nor the resort maintain any kind of social media presence.

Rating:

Other/General Comments

Overall this place is “OK”. There’s nothing that really stands out except for the service, but there’s nothing that’s off putting either.

Our Overall Opinion Of Bali Seascape Beach Club

This is a very standard hotel beach club and while we enjoyed our time here, we wouldn’t be rushing back even if we lived closer by.

The helpful staff are the real highlight of what is otherwise a day by the pool with unspectacular food and drinks.

Rating:
53/100

Additional Thoughts On The Bali Seascape Beach Club Resort

Candidasa is a reasonable drive from Ngurah Rai International Airport and from much of the rest of the island, so you might choose to stay in the area if you visit Bali Seascape Beach Club.

The resort here has an outdoor pool, laundry service, a tour desk, air conditioning, and direct access to the beach among other facilities.

There are several room options from fairly poky single rooms to large apartments with a balcony, sea view, hot tub and more.

Real guests that we spoke to at this resort said it’s a great location, they loved the pool area and pool loungers and that it’s within walking distance of nearby attractions.

They also found the check-in and check-out processes to be straightforward and praised the helpful staff and good value accommodation.

However, we have to note that the Bali Seascape Beach Club is, in fact, a time-share facility.

That means the individual rooms are owned by people from all around the world and you can buy membership at this resort to enable you to secure a room of your own.

During our time at the Bali Seascape Beach Club, nobody approached us regarding the timeshare scheme but it’s possible that if you’re on the pool loungers that somebody will.

You can sit on the pool loungers and enjoy swimming in the outdoor pool, eat restaurant food and drink cold drinks. The Bali Seascape Beach Club is a hotel facility and it’s designed for relaxing in the Bali sun, it’s not a beach club with any kind of party atmosphere or environment.

Final Thoughts On Bali Seascape Beach Club

The Bali Seascape Beach Club is an excellent hotel amenity and if you’re staying in the resort (which is a bit dated but seems to keep its guests very happy), it’s a no-brainer.

However, it’s certainly not worth travelling from the other side of the island just for this beach club and we’re not sure that it’s going to even attract many other folks who are staying in Candidasa.

Most hotels in this area have similar facilities, they just don’t call them a “beach club”.
