There aren’t many beach clubs with an incredible view of Mount Agung, but Jivva Beach Club in Klungkung does.
But is it worth making the long journey out to this spot by the sea, or is the beauty of Mount Agung all that they really have to offer?
Our team decided to immerse themselves in Jivva Beach Club for a day to offer you their opinion of this less-visited place. This is what they discovered.
Introduction – Getting To Jivva Beach Club
East Bali is not where most tourists on the island hang out and thus, it’s quite a drive to get there for most people.
It’s going to take 2-3 hours from Canggu, Seminyak, Nusa Dua, etc.
However, once you get there, you can find car parking at the resort here as well as easily get dropped at the door by Grab or Gojek.
Jivva Beach Club is part of the Wyndham Tamansair Jivva Resort Bali.

What’s Inside Jivva Beach Club?

Our Review Breakdown For Jivva Beach Club
We try to be fair to all the beach clubs that we review and that means we use a standard format for our review process.
The team is sent to the club (not all at once or even on the same day) and asked to score the club from 1 (worst) to 5 (best) against the 20 criteria listed below.
To get a final score in each category, they meet later and discuss their grades and vote on the final number.
Finally, one of them types up the review based on the discussions and it’s published. Once live, we revise the reviews on roughly an annual basis.
Pre-Club Advertising
We confess that Jivva Beach Club had never crossed our radars until we started this project.
We think every beach club should advertise because it ensures there are plenty of people there which makes the beach club experience more fun.
However, given that Jivva Beach Club is quite remote and mainly for the guests of the resort that it is part of, we sort of understand why it might not be cost-effective to do so.
Location
If you want to make efficient use of your time here in Bali, we’d recommend that you visit Jivva Beach Club if you’re staying in East Bali.
Otherwise, it’s a very long drive from other parts of the island and a round trip is going to take up most of a day.
However, once you get there, it’s a nice spot on the beach and there is a fabulous view of Mount Agung to be had.
Whether that’s enough value for the long drive, isn’t really for us to decide.
Booking Process & Seating Options
It’s clear that you used to be able to book a bed at Jivva Beach Club online, but this time seems to have passed.
The website is broken, the booking agents such as Traveloka and Klook have no tickets and there’s not even a WhatsApp number to drop a line to.
You’d be forgiven for thinking that they’d closed the Jivva Beach Club, but they haven’t.
It’s just that visitors will now have to travel and risk a walk-in appointment, which means that you may not want to travel at all.
Entry Fee
In common with the best beach clubs in Bali, there’s no entrance fee for the Jivva Beach Club in the shadow of Mount Agung.
That’s a good thing and we are strong believers that you should be able to walk into any beach club in Bali without paying for the privilege.
There is also no minimum spend requirement on the seats here, so you can relax and know there’s no “entry fee by the back door”.
Minimum Spend
None of the seating here attracts a minimum spend and we feel that’s both a good thing and a not-so-good thing.
It’s good because it means you’re in charge of exactly how much you spend, even if you stay for the whole day, you’re obliged to fork out large sums of money.
It’s not so helpful, however, when you want to reserve a seat because, with no deposit, there’s no incentive to allow you to book in advance which means if you’re travelling a long way, you can’t relax until you have made it into the club and found they have space in the place for you.
Welcome And Security
You will be given a warm welcome from the staff here but there’s no security check of any kind.
We believe that security checks are important, they ensure that everyone in a club has a safe day.
Now, we understand why it may not be economical to allocate staff to conduct this kind of search in a quiet part of Bali but we’d still prefer to see bag checks, all the same.
Inclusions
With no entrance fee and no minimum spend the Jivva Beach Club offers no inclusions for visitors and that’s reasonable enough we think.
You will have to pay for a towel, locker key, and other perks package which costs roughly 100,000 IDR (this can vary depending on what day you visit, etc.)
There is only one package though and there’s no helpful VIP or Premier pack to upgrade your experience by paying a little more.
Service
Bali is famous for hospitality and this hotel and beach club offer excellent local service.
It doesn’t quite compete with the top tier of beach clubs and 5-star hotels but you will find that they are helpful and kind here and that the staff are super friendly including to children.
We found that food and drinks are brought quickly from the kitchen too.
Entertainment
There’s a little piped music in the background but overall, this isn’t a place where you come to be entertained.
It’s a place to immerse yourself in the natural beauty of East Bali and to relax and consume food and drinks in comfort.
That’s fine, it’s a nice place that is not targeted at the party crowds of other parts of Bali.
Pool Quality
We found that the pool was large and that there was plenty of room to swim in the pool here.
On our visit, we found the pool area to be clean and well-maintained and we were happy to swim.
However, we do need to flag that when we were researching this place several previous guest reviews said that pool cleanliness is not a guarantee.
Menu/Drinks Pricing
There is a varied menu of food from around the world and around Bali and Indonesia.
It’s a bit pricey for the local area but for a hotel beach club, it’s actually very reasonable.
The drinks are also a little more expensive than in the local warungs but are also very much in line with what we’d expect to pay in a hotel.
Food And Drink Quality
We thought the food was tasty and beautifully presented at Jivva Beach Club and that the portions were adequate when compared to the price.
The drinks were also very good and were strong and well-mixed. Everything looked good in snaps for Instagram.
Sunset View
East Bali is pointing in the opposite direction of the sunset and really, if you want an amazing view of the sun and sky, sunrise is the time to do it at the Jivva Beach Club.
Unfortunately, unless you are a hotel guest, you won’t be able to watch and immerse yourself in the sunrise because the club isn’t open yet.
Sunset is really a minor affair with some light in the sky but without that amazing view of the sun dropping beneath the horizon that you get on the other side of Bali.
Music And Ambiance
The music at Jivva Beach Club is piped and the ambience is friendly and relaxing.
There’s not much more to it than that. But really we didn’t expect there to be, it’s a hotel beach club not a party spot.
Payment Options
You can pay by cash or card throughout the Jivva Beach Club and the resort.
But we didn’t see any facilities for QRIS or e-wallet payments and that seems a missed opportunity given how popular these payment options are in Indonesia.
Exit Process
This is a small hotel beach club and getting out is simply as easy as getting in. Just walk back out the front door of the hotel and you will be in a great position.
Transportation
If you drive to Jivva Beach Club, there’s plenty of parking at the hotel for you to take advantage of.
However, if you came by Grab or Gojek, you may have along wait for a ride as this isn’t a part of the island with a lot of drivers.
There won’t be any taxi mafia around to annoy you, but that’s not very helpful as you don’t even have the option of overpaying for your journey to cut down on the waiting time.
Social Media Presence
We wouldn’t say that their social media is dead, it is updated occasionally but Jivva Beach Culb doesn’t seem to see it as ap priority.
This is a shame as there’s some natural beauty here that could be showcased as well as that view of Mount Agung.
Instead, you’re left with some pictures of an empty beach club and some food and drinks. It’s not quite enough to make you feel comfortable that you know what to expect if you make the drive out to East Bali.
Other/General Comments
Jivva Beach Club does just enough to justify being a beach club rather than just a restaurant by the sea.
Overall, it’s a nice part of Bali that more visitors ought to see and the view of Mount Agung is unmatched by any other club.
Our Overall Opinion Of Jivva Beach Club
Friendly staff, good food, and natural beauty are all attractions of this pleasant hotel beach club.
However, we’re not sure we’d travel just to spend some time by the sea in this club.
It’s the kind of place that you visit if you’re staying in East Bali and you want to relax (particularly if you have kids) with helpful staff waiting on you as you watch the world go by.

Final Thoughts On Jivva Beach Club
Jivva Beach Club is a hotel beach club and that means the food and drinks are good and the staff are friendly and helpful. However, it’s not the sort of place that most people are going to want to make a 2-3 hour trip to visit.
However, if you’re in East Bali, then it’s a great place to immerse yourself in natural beauty and to enjoy the passing of time with cold drinks, good food and the sound of the sea crashing against the shore.
It is also the best beach club in Klungkung, but then, it’s the only beach club there too.
