There are many beach clubs in Bali that you might describe as “off the beaten track” but Silo Beach Club takes that to the next level.
You’ll find it on the east coast of Nusa Penida Island on Semaya Beach and it’s fair to say, it’s a fairly long walk out of the nearest village to get there.
Fortunately, it’s right next door to the Semaya Beach Resort if you want to get there without too much hassle.
This remote beach club intrigued our team so much that we had to visit and this is an account of what we learned at Silo Beach Club, Nusa Penida, Bali.
Introduction – Getting To Silo Beach Club
If you want to enjoy the facilities at Silo Beach Club, you’re going to have to get to Nusa Penida. That means taking a boat from Bali and it’s a 45-minute crossing.
If you’re lucky enough to cross on a day when the waters are fairly calm, you’ll find that this is a very pleasant trip but if it’s stormy weather, the motion of the boat can become fairly alarming.
We’d recommend that any visitor to the Nusa Islands makes sure to pack their most valuable items in waterproof containers, just in case.
Assuming that you make the boat trip, once you arrive in Nusa Penida, you will need to rent a scooter or hire the services of a scooter taxi to get you out to the beach club, so travel light.
However, once you get there, you will find that there’s ample parking around this beach club and no queue to get in.
It’s a short walk from the drop off point to the reception where you will be greeted warmly before being ushered to the pool area.

What’s Inside Silo Beach Club?
Silo Beach Club has a large swimming pool area surrounded by day beds and covered platforms. There is access to the beach and bar and restaurant facilities onsite.
We should note that while beaches in Bali are never “private” this beach club is the only practical way to access the beach here, so it might be considered “private” all the same.
Our Review Breakdown For Silo Beach Club
We have a rule at Best Beach Clubs Bali that we always treat every beach club in the same way. This ensures that we are fair to every beach club owner and their business.
It also means that you, our reader, can rely on a standardized beach club review format that makes it easy to compare one beach club to another on its merits.
How do we arrive at our reviews? Well, the entire team visits the beach club (this may not be as a group or even on the same day as each other) and ranks it from 1 (worst) to 5 (best) in a series of categories (that you can find below).
Then, they meet up at a later date and discuss their experiences and take a vote on the final score in each category.
Finally, one member of the team is assigned to write up the review which must contain the voted scores and accurately reflect discussions on the beach club.
After that, a review remains in place for, at least, one year before it is revised after a new visit to the beach club.
Pre-Club Advertising
We strongly encourage beach clubs to advertise their presence. This helps them to fill up and make the social side of beach club life as good as possible for their guests.
And while we understand that a beach club in the middle of nowhere may find it hard to advertise in a cost-effective way, we hadn’t seen a single advertisement for Silo Beach Club anywhere.
We only found it when we were putting together our “hit list” for this beach club site, in fact, through an in-depth Google search that most people wouldn’t do.

Location
We love the actual location of this beach club, it’s tucked in the middle of nowhere and it has some truly tranquil tropical vibes.
But we can’t pretend that it’s not a PITA to get to this place and that many people simply won’t be bothered, given that Nusa Penida isn’t usually a “main destination” for people in Bali and people tend to stay for a day or two before leaving.
Also, the roads in Nusa Penida aren’t great and you will be a little bruised after a moto ride out to the Silo Beach Club.
Booking Process & Seating Options
We had high hopes when we looked at Silo Beach Club’s ultra-modern and attractively designed website with a “Reservation” button in the top right corner.
These were dashed, when we clicked it to be directed to make a booking over WhatsApp. It’s 2025, you spent all that money on a website but decided to cheap out on making it easy for people to book? It makes no sense.
We want to make bookings with the least effort possible. People go to beach clubs when they’re on holiday, they don’t want a second job of liaising with their staff. Oh well, we guess WhatsApp is, marginally, better than nothing.

Entry Fee
In keeping with the standards set by the best beach clubs in Bali, the Silo Beach Club does not charge an entrance fee.
We thoroughly applaud this approach. You shouldn’t have to pay to walk into any beach club to find a seat. You’ll pay for food, drinks, etc. if you like the place.
But checking out the vibe? That, as it is at Silo, should be entirely free. Beware beach clubs with entry fees – it’s a red flag that they don’t deliver value for their guests.
Minimum Spend
There is no minimum spend at Silo Beach Club and while this can be a positive as it means you don’t have to agree to spend a certain amount on food and drinks to enjoy the facilities, it has a downside too.
This downside is a big deal for a beach club that’s in the middle of nowhere and a substantial journey from almost anywhere that people stay in Bali.
If you make a reservation, there’s absolutely no incentive for a beach club to keep it for you if you’re late and somebody else turns up on the doorstep with money to spend.
We really feel that every remote beach club in Bali should have a minimum spend associated with daybed use and that they should take a deposit too. Then, your reservation is yours.

Welcome And Security
You’ll be treated to a pleasant, warm Balinese greeting at the door of this beach club and that will make you feel very welcome, indeed.
What you won’t get is a bag check, and while we understand that the remote location reduces security risks somewhat, we prefer it when beach clubs take steps to protect all their guests.
Inclusions
No entry fee and no minimum spend usually lead to the fairly obvious idea – nothing is included by the beach club and you will need to pay for everything as you go.
That’s certainly the case at Silo Beach Club and while towel rental is pretty cheap compared to the total cost of getting to this beach club, it would be nicer if it was just included with the daybed. (Note: We’ve heard that in the low season, they will offer a towel for free).

Service
Silo Beach Club offers excellent Balinese service with a smile and its staff are a genuine credit to the beach club.
It’s not quite the same level of service as you get at the very best beach clubs in Bali or its 5-star hotels, but it’s more than good enough that you will have no complaints during your visit.
Entertainment
There is absolutely no entertainment at this beach club and that should come as no surprise to anyone. Getting a band out here would be a serious effort and without a much larger crowd, it would be a very costly expense for the owners.
All you get at Silo Beach Club is a bit of piped music and a very laidback tropical vibe.
Pool Quality
The pool is the centerpiece of this beach club and it’s large and great for swimming or for relaxing in with a cocktail. The pool was very clean and well maintained when we visited.
It’s not an oceanfront pool, but that’s OK, it’s the focus of all activity in the beach club and a social area for clubbers.

Menu/Drinks Pricing
Nusa Penida is cheaper than mainland Bali in many respects and that certainly held true for Silo Beach Club’s menu.
You can get food and drinks here for much less than you would pay in Ungasan or Nusa Dua and that’s a real benefit of taking the boat to Nusa Penida.
Food And Drink Quality
We don’t think SIlo’s food will win awards but it’s delicious and it’s very well presented too. There’s a mixture of local and international dishes on the menu and both were excellent.
The drinks were cold and our cocktails were more than strong enough too. They don’t water them down at Silo.
Sunset View
Sadly, the East Coast is the wrong side of Nusa Penida for a spectacular sunset and that’s a bit of a shame because one of Bali’s greatest assets is its setting sun.
There might be a lovely sunrise view here, but the club doesn’t open until 11 a.m. So you won’t be enjoying that from inside the club.

Music And Ambiance
You’re not going to remember the music 5 minutes after you leave Silo Beach Club, but you’re also not going to complain about the music while you’re there.
It provides an adequate backdrop for conversation and fun, but not much more. We’re OK with that – not every beach club has to have a party vibe.
Payment Options
You can pay by cash or card easily enough at Silo Beach Club, which is good because there are no ATMs within walking distance or even within a short drive.
However, we didn’t see any evidence that they support QRIS and that’s a shame as the local QR payment system is excellent and very popular with expats and locals here in Bali.
Exit Process
As you’d expect from a small beach club in the middle of nowhere, it’s super easy to get in and get seated and it’s super easy to leave too.
You will be offered a cheery farewell by the friendly local staff before you depart to your next destination on the island.

Transportation
You will need to bring your own transportation or arrange some prior to arriving at Silo Beach Club. It’s in the middle of nowhere on an island with no ride-share services and no taxis just driving past.
Most people either come on their own rented scooters or they hire a driver with a scooter and arrange for the driver to come back for them.
In a push, you can ask the beach club staff to arrange a taxi, but expect to pay a premium for it and to wait a while before it arrives.
Social Media Presence
Silo Beach Club has an attractive but seldom updated Instagram page and not much more for you to base your decision to visit on.
There is enough there, barely, to give you an idea of what this club is like but they could do a whole lot more too.

Other/General Comments
We weren’t expecting too much from Silo Beach Club and it delivered on a pleasant space for some food and drinks by the ocean with a pool to splash around in.
That’s small island beach club life and you can’t really complain that there’s no party vibe in this part of Nusa Penida.
Our Overall Opinion Of Silo Beach Club
We wouldn’t recommend visiting Nusa Penida just for Silo Beach Club but we absolutely would recommend visiting this beach club if you’re on that island.
The vibe is chill, the view is great, the food is tasty and well-presented and we imagine if it were less remote, this beach club would be a smash hit with visitors to the island. We liked it, quite a lot.
FAQs
Can You Swim At Silo Beach Club?
Yes, you can swim at Silo Beach Club. They have a large, clean, well-maintained central pool area for you to use.
You can also, in theory, swim in the ocean at the beach but we don’t recommend this, the current at Nusa Penida is unpredictable and even strong swimmers have been pulled out to sea.
What Can You Do At Silo Beach Club?
You can eat, drink, swim and enjoy relaxing in the sun at Silo Beach Club. This is a very pleasant beach club in a very remote part of Bali province, any more facilities would be overkill.

Is Silo Beach Club A Family-Friendly Venue?
Yes, Silo Beach Club is a family-friendly beach club and children are welcome throughout the venue. We should note that parents are expected to mind their children at all times and ensure that they do not interfere with the enjoyment of other guests.
We’d also point out that there are no special facilities for kids at Silo Beach Club, so they’ll have to make their own entertainment in the pool or on the sand of the shore.
Who Owns Silo Beach Club?
The ownership of Silo Beach Club is not in the public domain. However, the type of facility and service suggests that this is a locally owned facility.
Final Thoughts On Silo Beach Club
Silo Beach Club is a charming and relatively new facility on the island of Nusa Penida. While it’s not worth booking a trip to Nusa Penida just for this beach club, the island is lovely and worth seeing.
If you are ever in Nusa Penida and you want a nice relaxing day by the beach with good food and reasonable prices, Silo Beach Club will be ideal for you.
