Memories Club Sanur Review: Pretty Good Memories Too

Memories Club Sanur

Bali’s a place where everyone loves to make memories. Beach clubs are great places to have a good time, unwind and enjoy the tropical vibes that make this island paradise so special.

But does Memories Club Sanur have what it takes to give you an Instagram feed full of happy photos? We had to find out for ourselves.

So, our review team headed to Sanur for a weekend and we opted to spend, at least, a little time at the Memories Club. This is what we learned.

Introduction – Getting To Memories Club Sanur

Sanur is on the opposite side of Bali from Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta, Legian, Jimbaran and Uluwatu. However, if you can avoid the traffic, it’s a pretty easy drive from any of the more popular tourist towns.

But, you probably won’t avoid the traffic and that means it can be a couple of hours before you get to this more laidback beach town in Bali.

A Grab or Gojek is perfectly affordable to Sanur from most places and there’s good availability of these services when leaving too, so you can get dropped at the door without a problem.

If you’re driving yourself, the Memories Club Sanur doesn’t have its own parking but you can use the beach parking for a small fee.

The club itself is quite small, so once you’re inside finding a seat and claiming your spot is very straightforward.

What’s Inside Memories Club Sanur?

Memories Club Sanur is a pleasant spot with a swimming pool and various seating options, including seating on the sand of the beach itself.

However, the majority of the seats are all standard restaurant/bar seating and there are only a few daybeds in this club.

Our Review Breakdown For Memories Club Sanur

We try to ensure that all of our review coverage is fair and that means both to the beach club owners and to our readers, who need to be able to compare and contrast different beach club options easily.

So, our review team all visit the venue (though they may not all go together or even on the same day) and each team member grades the place from 1(worst) to 5 (best) based on their experiences in the categories listed below.

After everyone’s been to the beach club, they meet up and discuss their various experiences and take a vote on the final grade in each category.

Then, one member of the team takes it forward and writes up a review based on the scores and discussion with the rest of the team.

Once a review goes live on our site, it will remain there for, at least, one year until the team revisits the beach club and amends anything as necessary.

Pre-Club Advertising

We are big fans of pre-club advertising. We believe that the best way for any business to be busy and thus, deliver on the social promises of beach club life is to advertise.

Sadly, Memories Sanur Club is not currently running any ads, or at least, it’s not running any we can find and we have been looking.

The beachfront location does help to bring people through the door, but it’s unlikely to get people to come from any further away.

Rating:

Location

We like Sanur and it’s really not too far from the other beach towns to have an enjoyable day there. However, it’s on the wrong side of the island for sunset and that is a drawback.

This club is right on the beach and it’s part of the Gazebo Beach Hotel grounds. That means you can find a table right out on the sand which is a big win for us.

Booking Process & Seating Options

One thing you will notice when trying to find this beach club online is its total absence of a website and that means, as you might expect, there’s no booking process.

We confess, we don’t understand why so many businesses in Bali in 2025, still haven’t invested a few hundred dollars in building a platform for their customers to contact them easily.

And without that, we can’t give this beach club any points for booking.

Rating:

Entry Fee

The good news is that there’s no fee to get in the door at Memories Club Sanur. We feel that beach club best practices are that you don’t charge an entrance fee.

Everyone should be able to walk into a beach club and grab a seat at the bar without being expected to hand over a large amount of money before they order.

So, Memories Club Sanur gets our maximum score in this category.

Rating:

Minimum Spend

There’s also no minimum spend, which isn’t as great as it first sounds. Sure, you’re not obliged to spend a certain amount of money here – which is a good thing.

But in our experience, beach clubs tend to set the minimum spend lower than most people will actually spend anyway.

The downside of not having this agreement is that there’s no website and no way of booking a seat. So, if you travel to Sanur just for this beach club, you could get there and have nowhere to sit.

That’s a very frustrating experience and one that’s easily avoided with a minimum spend, deposit and booking system.

Rating:

Welcome And Security

You’ll get a cheerful welcome at the door of this beach club, but there’s no security of any kind and that means no bag check.

We strongly feel that beach clubs should conduct bag checks as it helps to ensure the safety of all their guests.

And while Sanur has a reputation for being sleepy, it might be best to keep it that way rather than with a major incident inside a beach club making headlines.

Rating:

Inclusions

OK, while there’s no entrance fee and no minimum spend, as long as you’re buying some food and/or drinks, you can use the pool for free and they will provide you with a towel for free too.

You can’t say fairer than that and while we do like more in the way of inclusions at beach clubs, we do normally expect to have to pay for that service too.

Rating:

Service

This is your typical Balinese beachfront establishment. That means the servers are kind and helpful and a little laidback.

They’re all a credit to their employer, but they could definitely be more organized and efficient too.

It’s OK, this isn’t a top tier beach club and for what it is, the service is very good but definitely not quite in the running for any awards.

Rating:

Entertainment

This beach club isn’t about the party lifestyle and that means there’s no entertainment to speak of.

That’s fine, not all beach clubs are for youngsters to have good times and you’ll find that the vibe here tends to attract an older, often much older, crowd.

Rating:

Pool Quality

It’s not the best pool that we’ve ever seen at a beach club but it is clean and well-maintained and it’s also completely free to use.

It’s a nice touch and while you probably won’t find it too useful for swimming laps, it’s a good place to cool off before you enjoy some BBQ and beers on the beach.

Rating:

Menu/Drinks Pricing

The prices in this beach club are super reasonable and as one of our group noted, the Tuna Steak is absolutely incredible value for money.

Overall, the prices are lower than you’d expect for a beachfront joint with a pool anywhere in Bali, though the drinks aren’t that much cheaper than anywhere else due to alcohol taxes.

Rating:

Food And Drink Quality

That tuna steak was also excellent quality and we found all the food here used high-quality ingredients and was well presented and prepared.

The drinks looked good and were strong enough when required to be. Overall, we were impressed with the food and drinks at Memories Club Sanur and while it won’t win any awards, it’s perfect for a feed and some cold ones in the evening.

Rating:

Sunset View

Unfortunately, Sanur is on the wrong side of the island for an amazing sunset view. You can get a great sunrise view in Sanur but this beach club is not open at dawn and thus, you won’t get it in Memories Club.

Rating:

Music And Ambiance

The piped music here is actually OK and there’s a little something for everyone during the course of the day. It won’t compete with big name DJs or carefully built tracklists but as family-friendly fare, it does the job admirably.

Occasionally, in the evenings they may have live music from a local group, so it’s worth asking if they’re around if you visit.

Rating:

Payment Options

You can pay by cash or card in the Memories Sanur Club and if you need an ATM, there are plenty within a short walk of this beach club as it’s in the built up part of Sanur.

We didn’t see any signs for QRIS payments though and that’s a shame as we prefer to pay that way if we can.

Rating:

Exit Process

Memories Sanur Club isn’t the biggest beach club and the way out is exactly the same as the way in, so you won’t get lost on the way to the car park.

You will be offered a cheery farewell on your way out the door and that’s how it should be.

Rating:

Transportation

Sanur is easy to get to and it’s easy to get away from too at the end of the evening. If you need a Grab or Gojek, you might have to wait a few minutes longer than in Canggu or Seminyak but not much longer.

It’s also cheap enough to get to most other parts of the island by ride-share here too. So, leave your transport at home and enjoy the trip.

Rating:

Social Media Presence

They do have an Instagram account but they don’t update it very regularly and the last update as we go to press was nearly a year ago.

However, what is there does give a pretty good indication of what to expect when you visit Memories Club Sanur.

Other/General Comments

We really enjoyed our time at this beach club. Sure, it’s not got many daybeds or sun loungers, but it has a more relaxed beach bar vibe and we found it appealing.

There were quite a few regulars there, which tells us that they’ve clearly found a niche that works for a certain type of holidaymaker.

Our Overall Opinion Of Memories Club Sanur

Memories Club Sanur feels like a little bit of old Bali, back before the big beach clubs and when every beach had a few more ramshackle beach bars.

It’s not somewhere that we’d travel a long way to get to, but if we were ever in the neighborhood, we’d be certain to stop in.

This is a place for some honest food, cold beer, and a nice view of the ocean. Sure, there’s no party, no sunset and a bunch of other minor stuff missing from the true “beach club experience” but for what it is, this place is just fine.

FAQs

Can You Swim At Memories Club Sanur?

Yes, there’s a nice pool at Memories Club Sanur and as you have direct beach access too, you can also swim in the ocean.

Swimming in the sea at Sanur is generally very safe, though you must keep an eye out for any warning flags. There is an offshore reef that shields the beach from the more powerful ocean currents and children are fine to swim in the sea here.

What Can You Do At Memories Club Sanur?

You can enjoy food and drinks as well swimming in the pool or sea and playing on the beach. However, this is not a fully-featured beach club.

Is Memories Club Sanur A Family-Friendly Venue?

Children are very much welcome at Memories Club Sanur. However, there are no specific facilities for kids at this beach club, so they’ll need to make their own entertainment or play on the beach or in the pool.

As with all beach clubs on the island, parents are expected to keep an eye on their children and ensure that they enjoy themselves without annoying any of the other guests.

Who Owns Memories Club Sanur?

The ownership of Memories Club Sanur is not in the public domain but we believe the beach club is owned by a local businessman.

Final Thoughts On Memories Club Sanur

Is Memories Club Sanur worth visiting Sanur for on its own? No, not really. But it is a nice place and the vibe is friendly and welcoming.

It’s not a traditional beach club but if you want a beachfront restaurant with a bar and pool and reasonably priced food and drink, this might be the ideal spot for you.

For us, we’ll definitely stop in on Memories Club the next time we’re in Sanur and enjoy a few cold beers in the heat of a Bali day.
