Byrd House Beach Club in Sanur offers a very different value proposition from the beach clubs in the more popular beach towns of Seminyak, Canggu and Uluwatu.
Where those beach clubs are all about the party, Byrd House Beach Club is all about having a family day out by the sea while you get pampered.
Curious to find out how this works in practice, we sent our team to Sanur to find out and this is what they learned at the Byrd House Beach Club.
Introduction – Getting To Byrd House Beach Club
Sanur is easy enough to get to and many people choose Sanur as their preferred destination in Bali for family holidays as the ocean in this area is great for swimming and even little kids can swim safely.
However, while it’s a short(ish) drive from Denpasar, if you’re coming for much further away then the Bali traffic is likely to turn what looks like a short trip into a 2-3 hour drive each way.
That means, you might want to stay in Sanur for a night or two, rather than opting to drive there and back on a single day. If you do, then we can recommend checking out the sunrise which is spectacular and there’s a lovely boardwalk down the beach that you can enjoy too.
Once you arrive at the Byrd House Beach Club, you will find that they have plenty of parking and that your Grab or Gojek driver can drop you off at the door without a problem.

In addition, they have a patisserie as well as restaurant and bar facilities as well as a decent choice of seating options. There are also spa & wellness facilities for those looking to really relax by the ocean.
Our Review Breakdown For Byrd House Beach Club
We are big believers in fairness when it comes to our beach club reviews and that means that every beach club gets treated exactly the same way.
This also ensures that we give you, our readers, a consistent format to compare and contrast different beach clubs to your heart’s content.
Our team goes out to visit a beach club (they may not all visit together, at the same time, or even on the same day) and each person scores the club from 1 (worst) to 5 (best) in the categories laid out below.
Once everyone has been to the club, the team meets up, and discusses the scores, they take a vote on the final score in each category and then, one team member is tasked with writing up the review taking into consideration the discussions and voting outcomes.
Once a review is completed and put online, it remains in place for, at least, 1 year until we revisit the beach club and decide whether or not to revise any scores, comments, etc.
Pre-Club Advertising

Byrd House Beach Club joins a long line of beach clubs that we only know exists because we were researching the ultimate list of beach clubs for this site.
We’ve never seen any online or offline advertisements for this club and while we understand they’re targeting families not clubbers, we think that it’s always best for beach clubs to be full and advertising helps with that.
After all, you want your kids to make friends at the kids clubs, rather than to be the only ones there, right?
Location
Sanur is a good location for a beach club, it’s not too far from the major beach towns of Bali and it’s close enough to Denpasar and Ubud too.
The town is a little quieter than places like Seminyak, Canggu, Kuta, etc. but that’s OK, it has a certain charm about it too.
This beach club is nicely situated by the beach and that’s a good thing because the sea here is excellent for swimming.
The only downside is that getting there and back in the Bali traffic can take a lot longer than it ought to.
Booking Process & Seating Options

We kind of like the simplicity of the Byrd House Beach Club’s booking form, right up to the moment when you realize three things.
The first being, you can’t pick where to sit, you’re just requesting some space in a beach club, rather than choosing the best spot for you and your family.
The second is that, by design, you’re going to have to wait for somebody to review this form and come back to you to confirm that you’ve got a spot.
And finally, there’s no facility to pay a deposit and that means, the Byrd House, has no financial incentive to save your seat if you’re a little late for your booking, they might as well give it to someone at the front door, instead.
Seriously, it’s 2025, it’s not hard to incorporate a decent booking system into your website. They ought to do better than this.
Entry Fee
There is no entrance fee at Byrd House Beach Club and we heartily approve of that. This is in keeping with best practices of beach clubs in Bali.
Nobody should charge you a fee to go inside a place and have a look and see if the vibe suits you, particularly if you’re going to stop at the bar for a drink or some food.
Minimum Spend

There is also no minimum spend at this beach club and while we know that, in theory, it’s nice not to have to agree to spend a certain amount of money in place, there is a downside to this.
As mentioned above, there’s no facility to take a deposit for your seats at this beach club and it’s almost certainly because they don’t have a minimum spend.
If we’re going to travel to a beach club, we like to pay a deposit and be assured of a seat. Traffic on the island is so variable that even setting off super early is no guarantee that you won’t be late.
We’d be super miffed if we drove 3 hours to find a club had given our seats away to someone else.
Welcome And Security
The welcome at Byrd House Beach Club is friendly and professional and reflects well on the overall vibe of the beach club.
However, we’re sticklers for proper security protocols and there’s no bag check at the door. We strongly encourage clubs to carry out bag checks, it helps to keep everyone safe.
Inclusions

We don’t think there’s a beach club with as many inclusions as Byrd House Beach Club has, for free. There’s no minimum spend and no entrance fee, but you can use the pool, the kids club, the watersports equipment, etc. at absolutely no extra charge.
It’s one of the reasons that we think if you’re looking for a family-friendly day out in Bali, you ought to consider this beach club, it works very hard to ensure that there are no surprises when your bill arrives.
Service
We found the staff to be friendly, well-educated on their offerings and overall they were a credit to their employers.
They weren’t quite the best on the island as they lack the polish of the 5-star hotels and very best beach club, but you won’t have any complaints about service at this beach club.
Entertainment

This isn’t a beach club for party enthusiasts and while there is some entertainment for the kids as part of the kids club, there’s nothing for the adults.
It’s a place to chill and unwind as a family and we think that’s just fine.
Pool Quality
We found the pool area to be clean and well-maintained but it is a little small. This isn’t really a big deal here, however, as Sanur Beach is a great place to swim in the ocean, instead.
Menu/Drinks Pricing

We found the food and drinks to be a little expensive for Sanur though they are in keeping with the majority of beach clubs in Bali and are not overpriced like many of the beach clubs in Ungasann.
We were impressed with the variety of menus at this beach club and they have vegan, vegetarian and gluten free menus, not just options.
The drinks were actually less expensive than many beach clubs, though to compensate.
Food And Drink Quality
We found the food and drinks here to be very good, indeed. They aren’t quite the best on the island but everything we tried was attractively presented, tasty and cooked to perfection.
We’d happily come beach to Byrd House Sanur to eat.
Sunset View

One place where this beach club can’t score highly is on its sunset view as it’s on the wrong side of the island for sunset.
However, it has an amazing sunrise view and yes, this is one of the few beach clubs in Bali that’s open for sunrise. So, head down for breakfast and enjoy it.
Music And Ambiance
The music in this beach club is piped and it’s clearly designed to appeal to all ages. That works well for us, we don’t need specialized party music or bland chill out stuff (like at Potato Head), we’re fine with a bit of a mix.
Payment Options

You can pay by cash or card in the Byrd House Beach Club, but we didn’t see any signs for QRIS payments which is a bit of a shame as it’s our favorite way to pay in Bali.
Exit Process
Getting into this beach club is easy and getting out is just as easy. You just follow your path back to the front door.
Pick up from this place is painless and you will be wished a hearty goodbye by the staff when you leave too.
Transportation

You can pick your car or bike up from the car park with ease here, or you can just call a Grab or Gojek to meet you at the door.
While Sanur isn’t as busy as Canggu, Seminyak, etc. you won’t have to wait too long for a ride-share to pick you up here even at the busiest time of day.
Social Media Presence
The social media presence for this beach club is, perhaps, a little too slick. We admire the effort put into the photography, etc. but it comes across as very “stock photo” rather than something with personality.
We’d like to see shots that more reflect the vibe of this place, rather than trying to look magazine perfect.
Other/General Comments

There are a lot of beach clubs aspiring to the family-friendly market here in Bali, but Byrd House Beach Club is definitely one of the best.
The huge assortment of activities, most of which are simply provided for free in exchange for you eating and drinking (with no entrance fee or minimum spend) make this a great family day out.
Our Overall Opinion Of Byrd House Beach Club
We like Byrd House Beach Club. It’s got a distinct identity and it clearly knows what it wants to be – a place for families to hang out for a day enjoying a wide range of leisure activities and facilities.
It’s definitely not a place to go to for a party, we’d recommend FINNS Beach Club if you want to really let your hair down, but it is very accomplished at what it does.
If we were passing through Sanur with our families, we’d absolutely stop in at Byrd House Beach Club again and if we were staying in the area, this beach club is a no-brainer.
FAQs
Can You Swim At Byrd House Beach Club?
Yes, you can swim at Byrd House Beach Club, they have a “splash pool”, it’s not a huge pool and you probably wouldn’t choose it do lengths in for fitness, but it’s kept very clean and well-maintained and it’s ideal for taking a dip during the course of a hot day.
You can also swim on Sanur beach (or enjoy a range of water sports on the beach) at this beach club and given how gentle the currents are in Sanur, you might actually prefer this option to the beach club pool.
What Can You Do At Byrd House Beach Club?

Byrd House Beach Club is built to give you plenty to do on a family day out. There are patisseries, restaurant and bar facilities where you can eat and drink to your heart’s content.
The beach club provides a decent array of seating options where you can opt for the kind of comfort that you prefer.
They also have leisure facilities including a kid’s club, swimming pool and tennis courts, some of which are free to use and some require a fee.
Finally, they have an onsite spa and wellness facility which is an ideal spot for a gentle Balinese massage to the sound of the ocean waves.
The only thing you can’t really do at this beach club is party. It’s meant for relaxation of a completely different kind.
Is Byrd House Beach Club A Family-Friendly Venue?
Yes! Byrd House Beach Club is family-friendly! In fact, it’s one of the very few beach clubs in Bali with its own onsite kids club!
That means your little ones get access to a treehouse, a dedicated kids pool, and arts and crafts workshops and supervised nature play and games.
The kids club is included in the costs of using the beach club, which means there’s no need to reserve a space in the kids club if you’re using the beach club facilities.
Who Owns Byrd House Beach Club?
The ownership of Byrd House Beach Club is not in the public domain though we do know that it is held by a locally owned company.
Which Beach Club Is Best For Partying In Bali?
The best beach club in Bali for partying is FINNS Beach Club. It prides itself on creating the world’s best beach club party experience, every single day.
They have non-stop live DJs and entertainment all day long and that really sets FINNS apart from other beach clubs on the island.
We’d also note that they’re one of the most reasonably priced beach clubs in Bali when it comes to food and drink, so you can party all day long without getting twitchy about a huge unforeseen bill landing on your table at the end of the fun.
Where Is The World’s Best Beach Club?
The world’s best beach club is in Bali. It’s FINNS Beach Club both according to their marketing and by popular acclaim.
With 1 in 6 international visitors to Bali opting to spend a day at FINNS, there’s no doubt that the crowds are voting with their feet on this.
If you can only visit one beach club during your tropical vacation in Bali, then you owe it to yourself to make it a trip to FINNS.
What Is The Largest Beach Club In Bali?
The largest beach club in Bali by reputation is FINNS Beach Club. But the largest beach club in Bali by land area is probably Atlas though Potato Head might also be in with a shot at the title.
What is certain is that Atlas Beach Club no longer has any claim to be the world’s biggest beach club, that’s Serene by GAIA in Dubai in the UAE.
Final Thoughts On Byrd House Beach Club
We admire Byrd House Beach Club, it’s found a niche and become very good at delivering an experience that suits that niche.
If you want family fun by the seaside in Bali, then it’s a great place to take your kids and chill out for the day and to get up and be active too.
The food and drink is decent too and overall, while we wouldn’t make a special trip to Sanur for this club, that’s because we’re not their target audience and we can very much understand why that audience would travel for Byrd House Beach Club.
