Lyma Beach Bali is a little further than you might expect as it’s in Pererenan just to the other side of Canggu from Seminyak.
It’s not to be confused with Lima Bay Bali which is an altogether different place (it’s a day club in the rice fields of Canggu, in fact).
But we wanted to know if this “beach club” was a match for the more illustrious clubs scattered in the areas around Lyma Beach.
So, we sent out our intrepid team to find out, and this is what they learned for us and for you.
Introduction – Getting To Lyma Beach Bali
Pererenan is reasonably close to the resort towns of Canggu, Seminyak, Kuta and Legian and it’s not too far from Ubud either, though the Bali traffic can make any journey more work than needed.
Once you get there, there’s no parking at the venue, but there is parking at the beach car park and your Grab or Gojek can drop you at the entrance without any problems.

There is a bamboo bar and restaurant area as well as various seating options and a garden. You can also get direct access from here to the beach itself.

Pre-Club Advertising
We can honestly say that none of us have ever seen an advert for Lyma Beach and it’s a genuine shame, because we’d have visited sooner if we’d known it was there.
Pre-club advertising helps ensure that a place is busy and that helps to provide a great atmosphere for its guests.
We understand why smaller places like this one don’t advertise, it’s a budgetary constraint, but we still wish that they would.

Location
Pererenan isn’t a bad location, if you’re based in Canggu it’s only a short drive away and depending on the time of day, it’s only really an hour from Ubud or Seminyak, Kuta or Legian.
However, it’s a good drive from much of the rest of the island and you may feel it’s not worth the effort when you take into account that this is a fairly small place that captures the essence of “beach bar” more than “beach club”.
If you do manage the journey out here, you’ll find parking is easy, there’s no problem with a ride-share drop-off and the beach is pleasant.

Booking Process & Seating Options
There is no way to book a seat in advance at this place and we confess, we find this pretty frustrating when a Chope booking option isn’t hard even if you don’t have a website, like this place doesn’t.
If you’re in the local area, then a drop-in carries no risk and if there’s no seat, you can always wander off and come back another day.
But if you drive for an hour or so to go to a place, you want to be sure of a seat when you arrive.

Entry Fee
There is, however, no entrance fee at this club and we think that’s awesome. We don’t think any beach club should charge you money for the privilege of walking through the door.
We also don’t think that they should charge an entrance fee by the back door and have seats which all require a minimum spend.
Lyma Beach doesn’t do that and as such, we think it’s following the best practices when it comes to beach club entry fees.

Minimum Spend
In fact, there’s no minimum spend seating of any kind at Lyma Beach and that’s both good and bad news.
It’s good news because it means you won’t have to commit to spending a certain amount of money there, no matter where you choose to sit inside their venue.
It’s bad news because it provides no incentive for the venue to implement a booking process. That’s because they’re incentivized to accept walk-ins rather than to hold seats for people who may not show up.
As we’ve already said, we want to book if we’re travelling to visit somewhere, we think it’s the bare minimum a place should offer.

Welcome And Security
The welcome at this beachfront bar is very friendly and Lyma Beach typifies the kind of Balinese hospitality that we really love on this island.
However, there’s no security of any kind at Lyma Beach and that’s a shame as we like to be certain that a venue is safe for everyone.
Bag checks are easy to implement and log and then every event in Bali can be safe and secure.

Inclusions
There’s really nothing to include if there’s no pool, the venue has Wi-Fi and that’s about it.
You can sit on a sun lounger here facing the beach or in a beanbag chair but if you want to swim in the sea, you’ll need to bring your own towel.
That’s fair enough, it’s a beachfront bar rather than a major beach club and handing out towels costs money, which would put the price of food and drinsk up.

Service
It’s not the best service that we’ve ever experienced at Lyma Beach but it’s very good and it’s the sort of traditional Balinese fashion that it’s very easy to warm to.
The staff are friendly, courteous and attentive and they will endeavour to help you with any queries you may have.
We feel that service is one of the most important factors at any club and Lym Beach acquits itself admirably in this category.

Entertainment
Lyma Beach does better than the average beachfront bar when it comes to entertainment and there are regular local dance performances and live music acts when the sun starts going down.
During the day the music is piped in, but that’s fine by us, we don’t expect Lyma Beach to compete with FINNS when it comes to non-stop entertainment, it’s not even in the same league.

Pool Quality
Sadly, there’s no pool at this spot and while you can swim in the ocean here, we wouldn’t.
It’s not very safe and the water quality around Pererenan Beach is a little dubious, it’s better to enjoy the view and the sound of the waves and swim elsewhere.

Menu/Drinks Pricing
The food and drinks at Lyma Beach are much cheaper than at most beach clubs and there’s a wide choice of things to order from the menu too.
It’s not fine dining but if you want something to chew on while you drink cocktails, they’ve got something you’ll fancy.

The food is OK, it’s not the best restaurant food in Bali, but then they’re not really positioning it that way, either.
The cocktails are tasty enough and have enough alcohol in them to ensure you’ll be chilled out in no time at all.

Sunset View
Lyma Beach is a great place to check out the Bali sunset from. It’s directly facing the ocean on the right side of the island for the best light show and to watch the sun drop below the horizon.
Sunsets are one of the reasons that people come to Bali on holiday and it’s always good to enjoy cocktails with a stunning view as the day turns inoto night.

Music And Ambiance
During the day the music is piped and this place is relaxed and chill. As the day draws to a close they often have a live band or dancers (or sometimes both) to keep your interest.
The vibe remains relaxed and friendly and occasionally even transforms into a more party-oriented evening.

Lyma Beach is very much a casual bar and you just get up and walk out the way that you came in.
It’s not big enough for you to get lost in as you leave and the staff will wish you a cheerful goodbye as you head out through the doors.

Transportation
If you drove yourself to Lyma Beach then picking up your vehicle in the local car park is easy enough.
If you need a Grab or Gojek, you may need to wait a while at peak times of the day but that doesn’t mean you’ll have to wait forever.
There may or may not be a few taxi mafia in this area, but they won’t hassle you too badly if they are around while you wait for a ride share.

They have a decent Instagram presence which also doubles as their website. It’s not that regularly updated though.
It does a decent job of showcasing what this place is like without going overboard.

Our Overall Opinion Of Lyma Beach Bali
Scores aren’t everything and we think this is the perfect place for a few beers by the sea in the middle of a lazy day.
It’s not really a beach club but more of an old-school Balinese beachfront bar and we like that.
They’re fast disappearing around the Southern part of the island, so it’s nice to encounter one every now and again.

Final Thoughts On Lyma Beach Bali
Lyma Beach Bali (not to be confused with Lima Bay Bali) is a pleasant beach bar in Pererenan with a very old-school vibe.
It’s not really a beach club and more of a bar/restaurant but it’s the perfect place to spend a few hours in the sun with a magnificent view of the ocean in front of you.
If you want to taste some cocktails while chilling by the sea, there are worse spots to do it than at Lyma Beach Bali.
But if you want the best service and the full beach club experience you should spend a day at FINNS or another big name beach club, instead.
