Pasir Putih Beach Club Review: Bali’s Most Remote Beach Club?

The Menjangan Dynasty Resort is in West Bali near the West Bali National Park and Menjangan Island.

That means that Pasir Putih Beach Club may well be the most Westerly beach club in Bali.

But is it any good? That was the question that our team went to test on a very long drive out to what may be the most remote beach club in Bali. And this is what they learned.

Introduction – Getting To Pasir Putih Beach Club

Visiting Pasir Putih Beach Club requires rather more commitment than visiting most beach clubs on the island.

It’s a long drive from most of the resort towns to Menjangan Dynasty Resort – you will certainly have to stay overnight, if not at Menjangan Dynasty Resort then nearby.

Most people will only travel out this way if they intend to go diving at Menjangan Island or to explore the National Park.

Where Is Pasir Putih Beach Club? Menjangan Dynasty Resort, Pejarakan, Gerokgak, Buleleng Regency, Bali

Website: Pasir Putih Beach Club

Opening Hours: 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily except Nyepi

What’s Inside Warung Beach Club?

Pasir Putih is not your typical club and it’s all about introducing hanging lanterns and the resort’s impressive communal structures to a wider audience.

There is no pool here, but you will find blond wood tables, bamboo chairs, bamboo columns, and a simple rustic style to an open-sided bamboo edifice. It’s inspired by the natural aesthetic beauty of Balinese architecture.

Our Review Breakdown For Pasir Putih Beach Club

We review every beach club in Bali in the same fashion to ensure that we’re treating them fairly and to make sure that you, our readers, can be sure of a consistent approach.

Our team visits the club and then they rate the club, individually, from 1 (worst) to 5 (best) against the 20 criteria listed below.

Once they return from the club, they meet to discuss the experience and to vote on the final scores. This enables our review to offer the most accurate picture of the overall experience.

One of the team will then write up the review and once it’s posted, it will stay on our site for, at least, a year before we revisit the place and update the review as necessary.

Pre-Club Advertising

We’ve never seen any online advertising for Menjangan Dynasty Resort or for Pasir Putih.

That’s not too surprising given how far this place is from the areas we tend to stay in – advertising isn’t cheap and it needs to be targetted to be effective.

However, it’s hard to pack out a club without any advertising and thus, we feel that ads are important. Beach clubs are best with a crowd in them.

Location

This isn’t the easiest place to get to and Menjangan Dynasty Resort is a long way from most of the popular tourist destinations.

However, if you do travel to Pasir Putih (which means “white sand beach”) then, you will find that this side of the island is quiet, calm and peaceful.

It’s a completely different experience to the South of Bali where most tourists visit.

It’s also on the doorstep of West Bali National Park, the only national park in Bali, and Menjangan Island both of which are very much worth visiting.

Booking Process & Seating Options

The Menjangan Dynasty Resort website is excellent for booking rooms inside the resort.

However, if you want to spend time at the white sand beach and just visit Pasir Putih Club, you’re going to find that you can’t book online.

That means you have to walk in and hope for the best. Now, given that this place is quite remote – there’s a good chance that you can get a seat in the beach club’s restaurant or at the bar pretty easily most days.

But, it’s a long way to travel without being certain of a seat – this may influence you to stay at the Menjangan Dynasty Resort as you will be guaranteed to get a seat.

Rating: 1/5

Entry Fee

There is absolutely no entry-fee at this spot and you can walk-in with ease and get a seat in the beach club’s restaurant or bar.

There may be some competition for the sun loungers/day beds but if you get there early in the day and the resort guests aren’t occupying them all – it should be easy enough to get a spot.

We think all beach clubs should have no entry fee – everyone should be free to come in and look around, have a drink and decide if a place is for them without being charged for walking through the door.

Rating: 5/5

Minimum Spend

There is also no minimum spend at this club, which is good in that you’re not committing to spending a fixed amount at a club.

But that also means you can’t reserve a seat at Pasir Putih and if you’re travelling a long way to this place – that might be important to you.

Rating: 3/5

Welcome And Security

You will get a very friendly welcome at this club and the staff are typically Balinese with a very hospitable manner.

However, there are no security checks of any kind here and while a little less hassle might seem like a good thing, we prefer to be in a safe environment. Bag checks keep everyone safer.

Rating: 3/5

Inclusions

The resort will be happy to lend you a towel if you want to swim in the ocean but there are no other inclusions with this club.

That’s fair enough as they’re not charging an entrance fee or demanding a minimum spend.

However, it also eliminates the chance of a VIP or Premier tier of service with additional perks.

Rating: 3/5

Service

This is very much a local resort and Pasir Putih offers warm, enthusiastic and kind Balinese service with a smile.

While it’s not the best service we’ve ever had at a beach club in Bali, there’s no doubt that the resort can be proud of its staff and their contribution to the guest experience here.

Rating: 4/5

Entertainment

This is not a beach club you come to for entertainment. It’s a pleasant place to stop for lunch in the beach club’s restaurant or to enjoy a few drinks by the sea and that’s it.

We’re OK with that. Sometimes, it’s nice to get together with friends or family and just chat the day away.

Rating: 1/5

Pool Quality

There is no pool at Pasir Putih which means you can’t go swimming at this club.

However, if you’re staying in the resort itself, they have a very nice infinity pool with views of the spectacular vista of the Balinese countryside here.

Rating: 1/5

Menu/Drinks Pricing

Compared to many beach clubs, the beach club’s restaurant here is very cheap though we would note, that it’s actually a little expensive when compared to other restaurants in this area.

The drinks are also reasonably priced and are comparable to the drink prices in any resort in this part of Bali.

One thing to watch out for though is that the tax and service charges don’t appear on the menu – however, you will still have to pay them when the bill arrives.

Rating: 4/5

Food And Drink Quality

The food is mainly hearty local fare and while it’s not the best food in Bali, we found it tasty and filling.

The drinks are also well mixed and strong enough.

What’s missing here is finesse, the presentation skills of the kitchen and bar, could use a little work to make things a bit more Instagram-worthy.

Rating: 4/5

Sunset View

You’re on the wrong side of the island for an amazing sunset view over the gentle waters of the ocean here.

You can get a bit of a light show in the sky for both sunset and sunrise, but it doesn’t compare to the sunsets you will see in Canggu or Seminyak.

Rating: 1/5

Music And Ambiance

There’s some gentle piped music in the beach club’s restaurant and bar area and that’s about it.

The resort tends to rely on the natural aesthetic beauty of its sustainable architecture to create the rest of the vibe.

We like it, it’s a great place to chill out with friends or family. But it’s certainly not a destination for a party.

Rating: 3/5

Payment Options

You can pay by cash or card through the resort and the club, but there are no QRIS or e-wallet options visible.

Rating: 4/5

Exit Process

When you;re ready to leave this club you can just head back out the door the way you came in.

It’s a small spot and you can’t get lost on the way. As you’d expect from a resort club, you do get a warm farewell when you go.

Rating: 5/5

Transportation

This is a major challenge in this part of Bali. There are no Grab or Gojek services to speak of and very few local taxis.

That means you’re going to want to drive here or hire a private car and driver for the time you’re in the area.

If you do need a ride, you can ask the hotel to arrange one, but be prepared to pay a premium and to wait a while for it to arrive.

Rating: 1/5

Social Media Presence

Given that it doesn’t have too many followers, we were surprised to find that the club has its own social media presence and that they’re pretty active about updating it too.

It gives a decent showcase of what you can expect when visiting this club and we have to confess, we’re impressed, many of the other bigger beach club brands could learn from this example.

Rating: 4/5

Other/General Comments

The stretch of white sand beach that this club sits on is very attractive and we enjoyed our time here.

It’s an unpretentious place with an emphasis on sustainable architecture and that’s a good thing.

Rating: 3/5

Our Overall Opinion Of Pasir Putih Beach Club

We very much enjoyed our time at this club and while it doesn’t have the facilities or budget to compete with the bigger clubs in South Bali – this is a nice beach club for West Bali.

If you’re in the area, it should be a “must-visit” before you head to the National Park or, perhaps, after your trip to the park, to chill out before the long drive back to the rest of the island.

About The Menjangan Dynasty Resort

This resort’s impressive communal structures aren’t the only thing to recommend it to visitors.

It’s a top-notch 5-star glamping location with an awesome infinity pool, luxury tents that rival any hotel and amazing views of a spectacular vista of Balinese countryside.

It’s all about sustainable architecture, organic curves, a distressed antique finish and the gentle waters of the ocean.

The resort is very well-known locally and is considered one of the best in West Bali.
