We thought that we’d discovered all of the beach clubs in Nusa Dua when someone pointed out to us that we’d not visited The Grand Bali Beach Club, yet.
Given that we need very little excuse to pack our bags and head off to Nusa Dua, we were pleased to know that there was still a beach club awaiting our review team out that way.
So, the team hurriedly packed their bags and headed out to The Grand Bali Beach Club. And this is what they learned while they were there.
Introduction – Getting To The Grand Bali Beach Club
This is a strange beach club, and the first strange thing about it is that you have to get to the Grand Bali Hotel in Nusa Dua, even though the beach club is not in the hotel but is associated with the property.
That means a trip to Nusa Dua for most people, and while there’s no doubt that Nusa Dua is a lovely area of the island, it’s also, by the nature of its position on the Bukit Peninsula, quite isolated from the rest of the beach towns and Ubud.
So, you’re going to need to plan for a fairly long drive in Bali’s traffic to reach the Grand Bali Hotel.
And when you arrive, there is parking available at the hotel, or your Grab or Gojek can drop you off at the door, but don’t start to get comfortable.
You will now need to jump on a hotel golf buggy and take a 15-minute ride to the beach, yes, this beach club is really nowhere near the hotel that it shares a name and management team with.

What’s Inside The Grand Bali Beach Club?
There’s a beach, some sun loungers, food and drink facilities, and that’s about it. The Grand Bali Beach Club may be the most literal interpretation of “beach club” that we’ve ever encountered.
Our Review Breakdown For The Grand Bali Beach Club
All of our beach club reviews follow exactly the same process each time that we do them, which allows us to offer beach club owners consistency and fairness in the way that they are treated.
It also means that our readers can easily compare two places side-by-side using a systematic approach to the review.
It works like this: we begin by sending the whole team to a beach club. They may not all visit at the same time or even on the same day. During this visit, each member of the team will grade the beach club from 1 (worst) to 5 (best) in the series of categories listed below.
Only once every member of the team has visited do they meet up to discuss their experiences. At this point, they will also take a vote on the final grade to be awarded in each category.
Then, a single member is elected to write up the review. They must take into account the discussions around the beach club and the final scores.
Finally, the beach club review goes live on this site. It will then remain in place for a minimum of a year before we revisit the beach club and update our comments or scores as necessary.
Pre-Club Advertising
We are firm believers in pre-club advertising. It’s a way for a beach club to build its reputation and to lure in guests; the more guests, the better the social side of the beach club visit will be.
It’s really that simple, and thus, it’s important to be able to know that a beach club is working towards boosting its numbers.
Sadly, there was no advertising for The Grand Bali Beach Club either online or offline, and we only came across it by chance.
We feel that a lot of the problems at this beach club stem from low attendance and thus a lack of financial incentive to improve. Advertising would be a good step in the right direction to resolving that problem.

Location
Nusa Dua is a lovely place, and generally speaking, we’ve always been a bit shocked that there aren’t more beach clubs in this part of the island.
However, the fact that they built this beach club so that it’s too far removed from the hotel to share facilities is bizarre.
That it’s built on a beach that they don’t keep clean is even more unbelievable. And of course, this part of the island is not set up for great sunsets, either.
Overall, what should be a great location just isn’t.
Booking Process & Seating Options
There is a hotel website. They do mention this beach club on that site. They even have a brief mention of the beach club on their Instagram page.
But that’s it. Yes, folks, it’s 2025, and a large hotel in Nusa Dua can’t seem to manage to deliver a simple webpage with information about booking and seating in their beach club.
This is mind-boggling. We don’t know how a marketing department gets to keep its jobs when it can’t even be bothered to do the basics of its work properly.
Imagine enduring the traffic to get to Nusa Dua to find yourself without a seat at the place you’ve travelled to? It’s not good enough.
Entry Fee
The good news is that you don’t have to pay an entrance fee to get into this club, and they will provide you with a free shuttle bus from the hotel lobby to the beach club, and they will bring you back again after you’ve finished.
We assume that this is true even if you don’t eat or drink anything, but we wouldn’t be keen to test that out. There is a basic assumption that once you take a freebie like a lift, you’re on the hook for at least a beer before you take the return trip.

Minimum Spend
There is no minimum spend at The Grand Bali Beach Club, but that’s not always a good thing. Sure, it might sound good that there is no requirement to spend a certain amount of money, but it means they have no incentive to sort out the booking system.
And without a good booking system, it’s hard to see why people would take the risk of travelling to Nusa Dua to spend time at this beach club.
Given that it’s extremely easy to implement online booking, it allows the club to take a deposit and incentivises them to hold a guest’s seat rather than give it away. It would be a simple win for this beach club to resolve this.
Welcome And Security
You’ll get a warm welcome at the beach club when you arrive. This may be because the staff don’t see too many customers – there’s no doubt that this is one of the emptiest beach clubs that we’ve been to.
But there is no security check or control of any kind. Long-term readers will know that we expect beach clubs to do bag checks.
This helps to keep guests safe and ensures that there are no major incidents around Bali. We do think the risk of terrorism is low here on the island, but it’s always best to keep it that way.
Inclusions
You will be offered a towel at this beach club, which is fairly generous given that they don’t have an entrance fee or minimum spend.
However, it is a hotel facility, and that tends to see this kind of attention to detail. However, there are no higher tiers of service available.
We always find that a bit odd, given that it’s easy to implement, improves margins and gives people an incentive to treat themselves a little while they’re on holiday.

Service
The service was pretty good, but not excellent, and that’s a bit of a surprise at a hotel beach club. We wonder if the lack of guests has reduced the drive to provide excellent service for the staff?
Whatever the issue is, there’s no doubt that you’ll still receive service that’s good enough to get the job done, it just won’t be terribly efficient.
Rating: 4/5
Entertainment
This isn’t a party-oriented beach club, and that means there’s not much in the way of entertainment (in fact, there’s nothing at all).
That’s not always a bad thing, but this beach club isn’t packed out, which means something needs to change to bring in the bodies.
Rating: 1/5
Pool Quality
There is no pool at this beach club, and that’s because of the odd decision to build a beach club that’s nowhere near the hotel, which has some lovely pools.
We get that you can’t build a pool directly on the beach, but the beach club suffers from the lack of a pool.

Menu/Drinks Pricing
The food and drinks pricing here is very hotel standard for Nusa Dua. That means you’re paying a fairly substantial premium when compared to much of the rest of the island.
Sure, it’s not a rip-off for this part of Bali, but it’s definitely a bigger demand on your wallet than you might feel comfortable with if you’re only passing through Nusa Dua for a day.
Food And Drink Quality
We don’t mind when places charge premium prices for world-class food, but this isn’t one of those instances. In fact, we’d describe the food as adequate.
It tastes OK, the portions are OK, but there’s nothing that stands out about it at all.
The drinks are also OK, but not exceptional.
Sunset View
This is Nusa Dua, which means it’s on the wrong side of the island to offer stunning sunset views, and while there are some nice sunrise views on this part of the Bukit Peninsula, this beach club doesn’t open for sunrise.

Music And Ambience
There is no music at all at this beach club, just the sound of waves crashing against the shore. We don’t altogether mind this, but we can’t give any points for music they don’t have.
The general ambience is also pretty dead. This isn’t a popular beach club by any means.
Payment Options
You can pay by cash or card at this beach club. If you want to pay in cash, we’d strongly suggest you have enough on you, as there is no ATM within walking distance of this beach club.
Exit Process
The exit process begins with another bus journey back to the front door, and that’s just tedious, particularly when you realise you may have to wait for your ride home because of the location, and you can’t book until you get to the front door because of the journey between bthe each club and the lobby.

Transportation
This is Nusa Dua, so there are Grab and Gojek services around, but they are fewer and further between than they are elsewhere on the island, and you may have to wait a while for a ride at peak times.
If you parked in the hotel car park, you should have no real issues getting underway.
Social Media Presence
There is a hotel Instagram page that briefly acknowledges the beach club with a terrible video of a sun lounger and absolutely nothing else.
The whole thing screams of half-hearted marketing, and we don’t get it at all. It completely fails to try and showcase this facility in a good light.

Other/General Comments
We really need to talk about the beach at The Grand Bali Beach Club. This club is in Nusa Dua, an area of the island famous for its beautiful beaches, and those beaches tend to be kept very clean by caretakers.
Unfortunately, the beach that hosts The Grand Bali Beach Club seems to be an exception to this rule. The sand is covered in trash that has washed up from the ocean, and it doesn’t seem to have seen a cleanup for the longest time.
We can’t make any sense of this. It’s not the greatest beach club in Bali, or even Nusa Dua, but we can’t understand why anyone would think a club covered in trash would be appealing to visitors.
While, generally speaking, we don’t have huge expectations from any given business, one of our minimum standards is that you keep your place clean, and that’s an epic fail from this beach club, sadly.

Our Overall Opinion Of The Grand Bali Beach Club
There is some real potential at The Grand Bali Beach Club, sadly, this place isn’t living up to that potential.
We can’t even recommend dropping in if you’re passing by this place; there are better beach clubs in Nusa Dua, by far, than this one.
When you pay a substantial premium for a beach club, it ought to be a good one.

FAQs
Can You Swim At The Grand Bali Beach Club?
Yes, though we need to be clear, you can swim in the sea at The Grand Bali Beach Club. While the hotel boasts a pair of lovely swimming pools, the beach club is nowhere near the hotel and thus, you can’t use these pools while you’re there.
Unfortunately, this beach is covered in trash, and the ocean water is also full of trash, which means swimming at your own risk. There is also no lifeguard on duty, which isn’t great.
However, if you do opt to swim with the plastic, you’ll find that the currents in this part of the island are pretty mild and it’s safe to swim.
The beach club will provide you with a towel that you can use to dry off, and there are basic shower and changing facilities on the beach too.
What Can You Do At The Grand Bali Beach Club?
You can lounge around on a sun lounger, enjoy some food and drink or swim in the ocean or play on the beach.
This is not a party-oriented beach club, though, so you can’t expect anything in the way of entertainment, and there’s very little going on in the area apart from the beach club facilities.
Is The Grand Bali Beach Club A Family-Friendly Venue?
Yes, as with The Grand Bali Hotel, The Grand Bali Beach Club is a family-friendly venue throughout, and children are welcome to use the facility.
However, parents are strongly recommended to keep a close eye on their kids in this place, not just for the usual safety in the water, but also because of the piles of trash on the beach – we don’t think it’s great for making playthings out of.
You should also be aware that parents are expected to ensure that their children don’t annoy any other guests, though, given how empty this facility usually is, we doubt that’s going to be a major issue.

Who Owns The Grand Bali Beach Club?
The Grand Bali Beach Club is owned by the Grand Bali Hotel. This is part of the larger Injourney’s Heritage Hotel Collection. This is an Indonesian hotel chain.
Final Thoughts On The Grand Bali Beach Club
The idea of a small piece of sand that’s isolated from the crowds of Nusa Dua, with the facilities of a hotel beach club, is very appealing in concept.
Unfortunately, the reality of this beach club is much less appealing, and we have to agree with most other guests that we’ve encountered or read reviews from, this just isn’t a great experience.
The beach desperately needs cleaning, and while we appreciate that this isn’t the busiest of places, the service, food and everything else need an overhaul to deliver the kind of experience you want in a place like Nusa Dua.
The Grand Bali Beach Club has an aspirational name, but currently, it fails to deliver on the promise of that name.
