10 Pet-Friendly Beach Clubs in Bali: Where Fido Can Join the Fun

Looking to spend a day at a beach club with your four-legged friends in Bali? Well, not all beach clubs allow pets inside and most do so for good reasons. Booming music and wild parties are not suitable for dogs.

However, we’ve tracked down 10 awesome pet-friendly beach clubs where the vibe is a little more chill and the owners of the beach clubs are happy for your dog to join you for the day.

An Important Note On Pet-Friendly Places In Bali

You are welcome to bring your dogs to any of the beach clubs listed below, but please note that you are also expected to keep your dog under control at all times in these venues.

Your dog can’t swim in the pools, they can’t run around the beach club, etc. they would need to be on a leash and with you to ensure the safety of the other guests.

If you don’t take care of your animal in these beach clubs, you’re likely to be asked to leave and possibly be barred from returning too.

Please don’t forget that while you know how sweet nature and awesome your pet is, other people don’t and some people are very afraid of strange dogs. You need to balance your need for a great day out with their need for a great day out too.

The 10 Most Pet-Friendly Beach Clubs In Bali

Potato Head Bali

Potato Head ranks second on our list of the best beach clubs in Bali just behind the mighty FINNS Beach Club and it’s not surprising that this relaxed club is pet friendly.

People don’t go to Potato Head to party, they go there to recover and enjoy a long day in the Bali sun by the pool with a drink in their hand.

We should note that while you can bring dogs into the beach club and into the larger Desa Potato Head creative village, their onsite hotel does not allow animals in the suites – so if you need accommodation, you will need to book elsewhere for something pet-friendly.

There is no loud music to distress your dog and the food and drinks are very good (the club will provide your dog with a drink too, but you might need to bring your own dog food).

SUKU Beach Club

If you’re based on Nusa Ceningan the this tiny little beach club is also very happy to welcome your furry friends if you want to spend a day here.

They want to remind pet owners that not only must the animal be on a leash, but that the owner is responsible for disposing of the pet’s waste. So bring gloves and a plastic baggie, please.

We can’t imagine that a lot of people are going to pop their dog on the back of a scooter and ride out to this place, but if you do, you’ll be happy with the welcome that your pet gets.

When we visited this beach club, we were impressed with the food, the pool area and the fairly low minimum spend required to secure a day bed for a few hours.

Flamingo Bali

We weren’t surprised to learn that Flamingo has a dog-friendly policy given that they are one of the most family-oriented beach clubs in Bali.

After all, many pet owners consider their animals to be a part of their family, right?

Dogs most definitely aren’t allowed in the pool but they are allowed pretty much everywhere else as long as they’re on a lead.

There are no entrance fees for dogs (or humans) at Flamingo, but you are expected to commit to a minimum spend to use any of the seats in this beach club.

However, we felt that the minimum spend fees were very reasonable and that they represented good value for money.

La Plancha Beach Club

It didn’t come as a huge surprise to us that La Plancha is pet-friendly as it’s part of a bigger chain and all their venues are pet-friendly.

This place doesn’t have as many facilities as some of the other beach clubs on this list but it does have a very laid back vibe.

We strongly recommend that you book in advance at La Plancha and that you book an outside table or bean bag on the beach if you’re bringing your dog with you – this club gets very busy and cramped at times.

There is no minimum spend but we found that the prices were quite high and thus, you’re going to spend more than average at La Plancha anyway.

La Brisa Bali

La Brisa is one of the big names in the Canggu beach scene and we were actually quite surprised to hear that they allowed dogs inside, but to be fair, it’s a very laidback place and it’s quite spread out too.

That makes a good environment for dogs on a leash and there’s plenty of room to sit without your pet remotely bothering any other guests.

We’d recommend visiting on a sunday when they have their famous farmer’s market and you can buy some tasty snacks for you and your dog!

One nice thing about this venue is their use of reclaimed wood and you’ll find it’s a nice spot to get some Instagram snaps.

Canna Bali

Canna Bali is in the posh resort town of Nusa Dua and we honestly weren’t expecting to find any pet-friendly beach clubs in this area.

However, they’re happy to allow leashed animals into Canna Bali and it’s a jolly nice place. While there is a minimum spend, it’s not extortionate and the prices are reasonable for Nusa Dua.

You can walk straight onto the white sands of the beach here and it’s a really pleasant spot (though the tide does drift out early in the day – so don’t expect to swim in the ocean by the afternoon).

The only downside is that this is a day club, which means you will need to leave just after sunset.

COMO Beach Club

COMO is not 100% pet-friendly but on the first Sunday of every month they hold a brunch where you can bring your dog to the beach club from 11 a.m. to  3 p.m.

Not only is your dog welcome at these times but COMO provides a full range of doggy snacks for your animal to enjoy while you eat!

This is a good spot for families as the hotel also offers an hour of kid’s club where your children can enjoy creative and energizing activities for free as you dine!

We don’t think you can say fairer than that and it’s just a shame they don’t allow dogs in for the rest of the month.

Lyma Beach Bali

It’s probably stretching it to call Lyma Beach a beach club in Bali but it is a very nice beach bar and they are very much a pet-friendly place.

Dogs must stay on the leash and be kept clear of the walkways but are otherwise allowed inside this venue, service dogs are welcome to carry out their roles as required too.

One unusual thing about Lyma Beach is that you’re allowed to take photographic equipment inside and shoot to your heart’s content as long as you don’t annoy anyone else – most beach clubs ban cameras other smartphones so this is quite unusual.

Children are also welcome here so this club can be great for a family day out with your kids and pets.

Azure Beach Restaurant

This beach club/restaurant is very near to the airport, but as you can’t fly in to the country with a dog or out of the country with a dog, you probably won’t need to be close to the airport.

However, it remains a nice place to hang out with friends for a day and the beach access is excellent with several items of attractive furniture available on the white sands here.

Just make sure to book in advance as they are occasionally overwhelmed by huge coach parties which can make it difficult to get anywhere to sit.

But don’t turn up late for a booking, with no minimum spend and no entrance fee, there is no incentive for the management to reserve your seat for more than a few minutes without giving it to someone else.

Omma Dayclub Bali

OK, we’re really pushing the definition of beach club to find a 10th pet-friendly venue in Bali and we’ve gone with Omma Dayclub.

The problem here is that there’s no beach, Omma is in Sukawati a long way from the sea, and while it has a lovely pool, nice restaurant and fabulous waterfall view, there’s no sand.

That’s why we haven’t reviewed Omma in detail unlike the other clubs on this list.

However, this club is 100% pet-friendly and your dog may actually prefer this jungle setting to being by the beach.

FAQs

Can You Bring Your Dog With You To Bali?

No, you cannot bring your dog with you to Bali. Bali was, until about 20 years ago, a rabies-free zone. Then, somebody brought their pet to the island and there have been issues with rabies ever since.

It is now expressly forbidden to bring an animal to Bali and while there are disreputable and illegal services that offer pet transportation services to the island – if you are caught bringing in a dog, you will be in serious trouble.

If you intend to move to Bali whether it be for work, retirement or other purposes, you will not be permitted to have any animal join you here.

If you want to own a dog in Bali, you can, but it must be adopted locally and we must stress – the ban on animal transport works in all directions, you cannot take a pet with you when you leave the island, either.

How Dog Friendly Is Bali?

Bali is mainly dog-friendly. However, many resorts, restaurants, bars and beach clubs maintain no pets policies.

These policies are non-negotiable and as with much of the rest of the world, the land owner has the right to refuse admission to anyone who refuses to cooperate with their policies.

It is always best to contact a venue in advance and ask if they permit dogs inside or on the grounds before you visit with a pet.

Can I Touch Dogs In Bali?

We don’t recommend touching stray dogs in Bali. While most of the island’s dogs are friendly enough, not all of them are and there is a risk of you getting bitten.

We should note that if you are bitten by a dog in Bali, you must seek immediate vaccination for rabies (this is true whether or not you have been previously vaccinated against rabies) and rabies treatment here on the island is very expensive.

While travel insurance will usually pay out for rabies treatment, if you have to pay for it yourself, you will be looking at a bill of over $2,000 USD ($3,000 AUD) and it can be difficult to find the complete treatment for rabies here as not all clinics stock the vaccines and serum.

However, if you do not get vaccinated after a dog bite, if you begin to show symptoms of rabies, this disease is 100% fatal and there is no cure or effective treatment available.

Are All Beaches In Bali Pet-Friendly?

No, while most beaches in Bali allow dogs, some of the more popular beaches have restrictions on animals.

This is for the benefit of both the other beach users and the animals. It’s not good for dogs to be overwhelmed by large numbers of people.

How To Deal With Dogs In Bali?

The best thing you can do with dogs in Bali is let them be. If they are healthy and look cared for, you don’t need to feel sorry for them.

If you think a dog is hungry, it’s fine to buy some food and leave it for them but we don’t recommend touching the dogs just in case they bite.

By and large, most dogs here roam around and are very much capable of taking care of themselves, so you don’t need to worry about them too much.

Can I Bring My Dog Back From Bali?

No. You cannot bring a dog out of Bali. This is very important because it means that you should only adopt a dog in Bali if you intend to remain in Bali for a long time.

There are no exceptions to this rule. You cannot export any live animal from Bali due to its status as a rabies zone. It doesn’t matter if your animal is vaccinated, micro-chipped, etc. the Indonesian authorities will not allow it to leave the island.

Do People In Bali Like Dogs?

Yes, in fact, the Balinese and dogs have lived together in harmony for a very long time. However the relationship between the locals and these animals is not the same as the relationship between pets and their owners in the West.

Dogs are seen as working animals. They are used to guard property, act as pest control and as a garbage disposal system.

Dogs play an essential role in farming in Bali and protect farmer’s land from snakes, rats, etc. Some say that the agricultural system here would collapse without dogs.

Why Do Dogs In Bali Have Collars?

Many Balinese dogs have a collar which is a symbol that one of the local animal welfare charities has sterilized and vaccinated the animal against rabies.

This helps to reduce the numbers of stray dogs on the streets and lower the incidence of rabies, which, in turn, makes it easier for people and dogs to live side-by-side in relative harmony.

Can I Take My Dog To FINNS Beach Club?

No, not only does FINNS have a strict policy that doesn’t allow pets inside the beach club, it wouldn’t be fair to your dog, either.

FINNS is primarily a party venue and the loud music, entertainment and, occasionally, loud guests are not conducive to an animal’s wellbeing.

There’s no doubt that FINNS is the world’s best beach club for people, but it’s simply not suitable for our four-legged friends.

What Is The Most Pet-Friendly Destination In Bali?

We’d say that it was the Dog Club & Parks in Berawa, Umalas and Ungasan. This is a wonderful 700 square meter park set up with boarding kennel facilities where dogs can play, use the swimming pools and much more.

If you’re living in Bali and need to go out of the country, it’s the perfect place to leave your dogs safe in the knowledge that they’re in good hands.

Final Thoughts On Dog Friendly Beach Clubs In Bali

Not all beach clubs in Bali are pet-friendly and this is usually for good reasons. Dogs and parties don’t mix and it’s not fair to your fellow guests or to your canine chums to bring them to these beach clubs.

However, as you can see from our list above, there are plenty of beach clubs where you can take your pets and have a great time.

So, please enjoy a safe and happy day out at one of our 10 best pet-friendly beach clubs in Bali.
