If you’re in the mood for a day club with a decent food menu and an amazing clifftop viewpoint, then you might be looking at Ulu Cliffhouse.
But is Ulu Cliffhouse as good as it’s cracked up to be? Our team went to investigate and this is what they learned while they were there.
Introduction – Getting To Ulu Cliffhouse
Located on a cliff between Thomas Beach and Pantai Suluban, you will find Ulu Cliffhouse. Perched 60 meters above the Indian Ocean, the beach club offers stunning views.
We visited Ulu Cliffhouse to see the view for ourselves and find out whether or not this beach club is worth a visit.

What’s Inside Ulu Cliffhouse?
Ulu Cliffhouse is a beach club with an infinity pool, restaurant and bar. The venue has many luxurious sunbeds and sofas. If you visit this beach club in hopes of catching the sunset, you’re in the right place. With sofas all the way in the front of the venue, you will get the best views.
If you’re feeling particularly adventurous, this beach club also features a bar and deck just above the waves. To reach this area, you will have to walk down quite some steps, but the views are totally worth it.
The beach club is also part of a resort. The rooms overlooking the ocean are absolutely stunning, and the property has some amazing facilities. If you’re considering staying in this area, you should definitely check out this hotel and club.
Our Review Breakdown For Ulu Cliffhouse
We assess all the beach clubs we visit in the same way. We, as a team, rate the club from 1 being worst to 5 being best on 20 different subjects. These are categories that we think are important to customers.
The team then votes on the final score for each category to ensure that the ratings reflect our overall experience.
After that, we write the full review, which stays online for at least a year or until our next visit.
Pre-Club Advertising
For a well-known beach club like Ulu Cliffhouse, we were a bit surprised by the lack of advertisement. We might have seen a single poster in the area, but otherwise, nothing.
We are not saying there is absolutely no advertisement; it’s just that none of us has been targeted.
Location
Ulu Cliffhouse is located in a very popular area of Uluwatu. It is near Thomas Beach and there are also plenty of great restaurants and hotels within a 10-minute drive.
Perched on a cliff, this beach club really has one of the best locations. However, if you’re thinking about visiting this beach club while you are not staying in the area, you might want to think again.
The traffic in Bali is known to be problematic, and it can easily take you multiple hours to reach this destination from, for example, Canggu.
Booking Process & Seating Options
The booking process for Ulu Cliffhouse left us a bit confused. On the website, they only mention Ulu Exclusives, a package for a daybed with a certain minimum spend. At first, we thought this was the normal option for making a reservation at this beach club.
After some digging on Instagram, we discovered you can make a reservation for a daybed using WhatsApp. We do not understand why luxurious beach clubs like this one don’t have a good working booking engine on their website. It makes the process so much easier.
Most of the seating options are daybeds, but there are some sofas as well. There is also a restaurant and bar overlooking the ocean.
Entry Fee
Ulu Cliffhouse does not have an entry fee. The beach club is free to enter for everyone. The bar and restaurant are also open for non-beach club guests.
Minimum Spend
Beach Club Ulu Cliffhouse does have a minimum spend. A daybed or sunbed on a weekday comes with a minimum spend of 700,000 IDR per bed, and at the weekends, it’s 1,200,000 IDR per bed.
The maximum capacity is four persons, so per person, the minimum spend is not that high compared to other beach clubs.
Welcome And Security
When we reached the open-air beach club, our bags had to be checked. We think it’s important to check everyone’s bag for the safety of all guests.
We were greeted politely and the staff showed us to our bed for the day. For Bali, this was a pretty standard welcome, but it was friendly nonetheless.
Inclusions
When booking a daybed, you will get a complimentary towel. For a daybed with a minimum spend, we think this is the bare minimum.
Another option is to book an Ulu Exclusive package. The Rejuve At Ulu package includes a welcome drink, a yoga or pilates class, a 60-minute massage and daybed use for the whole day. The Day At Ulu package also includes an afternoon cocktail and access to the weekly event.
Lastly, the Luxuriate Ulu package includes two welcome drinks, a one-night stay in the hotel, breakfast and access to the member lounge on top of all the other benefits stated before.
We think it’s nice to have a choice in your experience at Ulu’s. However, we believe the regular booking options could use a bit more specialties.
Service
We were curious to find out what the service would be like because we had seen some bad reviews online. Contradicting the bad reviews, we had a lovely time at Ulu’s. The service was friendly and attentive.
Sure, they weren’t always close, but it’s not like we had to wait hours like some of the reviews suggest.
Entertainment
During the day, there wasn’t any form of entertainment besides music. Ulu Cliffhouse hosts events on some evenings at the weekends.
You can buy tickets online or, if you prefer, at the venue. If you come before 8 pm, the entree is free, but after 8 pm, it will cost you 155,000 IDR.
You can also opt for VIP packages. These packages come with four tickets, a table and a bottle of your choosing. A VIP package costs 3,600,000 IDR to 5,100,000 IDR in total, depending on where your table is located.
Pool Quality
You will find the infinity pool right in the middle of the beach club. The pool is a decent size and is perfect for a cool down. We think the pool is nice, but not that special.
The pool at this beach club is clean and well looked after. However, if you’re looking for a pool with different features or simply one that’s bigger, we would recommend going to another beach club.
Menu/Drinks Pricing
We were surprised by the prices on the food menu. We have visited beach clubs similar to this one that were way more expensive.
The breakfast menu, especially, wasn’t expensive at all. 55,000 IDR for avo toast is a fairly normal price, especially for a beach club.
Ulu serves plenty of dishes below 150,000 IDR, such as pizza Margherita, chicken burger, penne pesto, salmon sashimi and more.
Food And Drink Quality
The food menu at this clifftop beach club was good but not spectacular. We tried several dishes, some with fresh seafood, but none of them stood out.
However, we were pleasantly surprised by how good the cocktails were. They were absolutely delicious, so you should definitely try one of their refreshing cocktails when you check out this club.
Sunset View
This beach club might have one of the best sunset views in Uluwatu. Since it is located so high up on a clifftop, you’ll have amazing views of the sun going down in the evening.
You can’t quite see the sun dip below the Indian Ocean but the sight is lovely nonetheless.
Music And Ambiance
The music at Ulu Cliffhouse is a nice mix that caters to everyone’s liking. The atmosphere is very relaxed, and therefore, it is the perfect place to relax and unwind.
If you prefer a big party and lots of entertainment, this might not be the place for you.
Payment Options
Guests at this beach club can pay using cash, card or contactless. We have not seen any signs of QRIS payments.
We think it’s a good thing when a beach club offers different payment methods so the guests can choose the method they prefer.
Exit Process
Exiting this beach club is an easy process. You exit the same way as you came in.
Transportation
If you decide to drive by yourself to Ulu Cliffhouse, you’ll be pleased to know that a parking space is close to the club. You can’t miss it when you arrive.
It is also possible to use Grab or Gojek to get to or leave this beach club. Do note that the taxi mafia is also active around this area. You might have to walk to the end of the street because Grab drivers aren’t always allowed to drive down to the club.
You probably won’t have much trouble finding a driver in this area. Ulu is near many popular tourist destinations, so a driver should arrive within minutes.
Social Media Presence
Ulu Cliffhouse is active on social media. They regularly post updates in their story as well as on their timeline. The posts range from ambience posts to information about an upcoming event.
We, however, think Ulu is not transparent about their prices online. We feel it’s important to be transparent about the costs towards guests.
Other/General Comments
Some of us had almost no phone reception when we visited this beach club. On the one hand, this makes for the perfect opportunity to fully relax, but on the other hand, it’s nice to have reception if you, for example, want to book a ride home.
Ulu does have a wifi network, but it is secured with a password. We did not ask for the password, but maybe if you ask nicely, they will give it to you.
Our Overall Opinion Of Ulu Cliffhouse
We had a lovely time at this beach club. The location is stunning and the cocktails are great. It’s the perfect place to relax above the Indian Ocean. If you prefer a party, you can visit this beach club on weekend evenings when they host an event.
However, we think the booking process isn’t professional and needs some big improvements. They aren’t transparent about the prices of daybeds and we don’t think this is a good strategy when you want to attract guests.

Final Thoughts On Ulu Cliffhouse
We think Ulu Cliffhouse has some adjustments to make. For example, the website. We cannot find the prices for daybeds and making a reservation also seems impossible.
The property is nice and the location above the ocean is spectacular, but that does not make up for the lack of transparency.
Overall, this beach club could use some improvements, but the atmosphere is very relaxed and the food and drinks are good as well.
